Replacing living room halogen lights, how do you get spring back in?

Sorry for yet another home/house related thread but I have halogen lights in my flat, there is 8 lights but only 7 worked when I moved on and within the last week it has gone down to 4 working so I purchased some new bulbs from Asda today and can get the bulbs in but the spring/circlip I dont know how to get back on as I dont know if it goes in before and after.

Just a bit worried that without these springs it may shorten the lifespan of the bulbs(yes another possible needless worry of mine)

Its the normal 2 pin type of bulb that screws in like a normal lightbulb((just from underneath instead of the side like normal bulbs)

Spring clip goes in after the bulb, just insert one side of the clip below the bulb - press it a bit - and push the other side into the recess.

Try to not touch the glass surface with bear hands, the oils from your hand can cause the bulbs to fail early.

How did you get the old bulbs out?

Lifting the tab on the spring which then pops out the bulb.

Then do the reverse to put it back.

Thats easier said than done as I am trying to work out how to reverse it, since whien you lift the tab the spring comes off I need to know how the spring wraps around correct.

Will give what the first poster said a try tommorow, my ladder seems a bit messed up so dont want to fall over lol.
