Replacing Microsoft Wireless Mouse

Hi all,
Have discovered that my wireless mouse for my pc has finally given up.
It was bought as part of a set, the microsoft wireless desktop 1000.
It came with a usb wireless adaptor.
Do you think if I buy only a microsoft wireless mouse, that it would function with the od keyboard using the same usb adaptor?

Yes, wireless keyboards and mice don't use a standard to communicate (aside from bluetooth versions) which means there is rarely compatibility between dongles and devices of different manufacturers. There's no guarantee another MS mouse will work ok although they tend to be ok.
