Reputable Online Jewellers?

I'm getting married this summer and we have been looking at platinum wedding rings on the high street which are quite expensive.

Can anyone recommend a reputable online jewellers where we could save ourselves some money? As they will cost quite a lot of money, I don't want to order from anywhere dodgy!

    Many thanks

szul.com/ if you are buying something expensive - $35 insured shipping but with the strong pound, the laboratory certified gems (where else can you pick up D colour IF diamonds?) and the 10% off code they give for signing up to thier newsletter it works out pretty cheap.

If your ever around the Birmingham area, pop down to the Jewellery Quarter.

Many of the shops there can offer to make something to your own design and as theres so much competition their prices are excellent.

I bought my engagement ring down their last year, had it hand made to my own design and even picked out the diamonds I wanted - I then went online to see what the prices were for the same sort of ring with the same amount of diamonds and they were nearly triple the price!

    I'm now a very happy bunny!:-D

www.goldsmiths.co.uk are decent for some things, rings though , you should really see in person, you would also as already mentioned, get a proper deal on quality materials.

you could also try places like gems.tv although i doubt the prices they say things are before they reduce them are actualy anywhere near correct.

goldsmiths also have a big 12% cash back through quidco.com

I've sold diamond jewellery many times and still do but i'd recommend checking out an item personally, as they can seem much better in pictures and at a much large size, you'd actually be surprised the amount of times i've bougt from my supplier and the ring/necklace looks thinner than the first impression.

Also if you see an item instore, remember they have a lot of lighting, which makes the diamonds glisten to a higher extent.

When you buy a diamond, remember that the diamond doesn't require to have a higher clarity than SI1 or SI2 diamonds, which is how clear the diamond is, any clearer and it will make it much more expensive than it needs to be but you will not be able to notice the little black dots inside the diamond to the naked eye and will still have a beautiful sparkle.

The colour should be around H/I in colour, which is a nice clear looking diamond but any higher will make it much more expensive without any need.

If you require any further advice, PM me and i'll be more than happy to help and good luck with the wedding

www.diamondgeezer.com let you select your own diamond and then match it to a ring.

Check out this website about the Birmingham Jewellery Quarter.....it has links on there to retailers within the quarter.....well worth checking out as most of the jewellery made in the UK originates from here.

thanks everyone for all your help, I will have a look at your suggestions. I agree that it would be best to see the rings personally so we'll see what we find. Thanks again.
