reputable place to get currency exchanged

going on holiday next week so need currency by next sunday latest (BGN)
having a look around online following places local in my city, here's how they rank
    1. money shop (£1 to 2.1852 BGN)
    2. thomson (£1 to 2.1540 BGN)
    3. John lewis (£1 to 2.1516 BGN)
4/5 thomas cook & coop travel (£1 to 2.1217 BGN)

post office and travel ex came in behind. PO you need to exchange at least £500

so out of the above which is more trusting.
money shop seems to have an good rate compared to the others but i usually avoid shops like that as I have the prejudice they just give out loans with high interest.
If anyone can vouch for them i'd rather go there & get more for my money but if anyone has any expereince bad with them or can tell me why the other places would be more trusty, losing out on a few squid wouldnt be the end of the world.

Im pretty sure you can trust, 2, 3, 4, 5. There are massive companies with hundreds of thousands of transactions.

yes I know that, my concern was lying with one.
that's what i was trying to ask - the reliability of option 1 - the money shop as they offer the best rate but i'm not sure how reliable they are so would I be better to stick with one of the others.

M&S also do currency exchange. I always use them as it's easier for me to get to the store as they are open longer hours. I can also drive there and not have to carry thousands around in my wallet\pocket.

Always a good idea to check local, independent, travel agencies (if there are any where you live) to see if they also exchange money as you might find that their rates are better than the bigger companies.

there will be nothing wrong with any of them and once you have the cash its only an issue if you want to transfer any of it back and the company no longer existed and you had paid for buy back. Fully understand your comments about the interest they charge but at the end of the day if the difference is so big which I expect it isn't then just go with the second best. Most of the big travel agents will ask you what the best rate you have see is and then price match.

    Try MoneyCorp

Currently offering 2.1820, you can order it for collection at the airport. No extra charges, just pay via your debit card or cash. I've used them many times, never had an issue.

    Asda's rates aren't too bad.
