Resizing gold wedding rings - typical prices?

Hi my wife called into local jewellers to get them to quote to resize her wedding and engagement rings (need to go up a size). She was quoted £65 for both. Is that a good price?

I pay £12 per ring at my local jeweller so I would say no. If I include a Rhodium plating for white gold, only £20 per ring (the prices I have given are for 2 sizes too).

I would say maybe shop around, and try independant jeweller, especially those who make their own jewellery.

Also it does depend on the carat of the gold, shape of ring etc too.

Also if you are in a city, you may have to pay higher too.

no its not, had mine done 18 months ago and you can go up by about two sizes for about a tenner....this is only for bands without any stones as they spin them on a machine, sounds like she was quoted for putting a piece in but perhaps hers is a complicated design or something.??

I thought that too, but I have had rings resized with channel set stones, jeweller did not charge more, just warned me of risks involved. It would be a bit of a stretch to add a piece for one size, I would check elsewhere personally.

    £15 per ring here.

    Timpsons did mine for £5.00.

My ring is loose, is it possible to go down a size?

deano, your missus piling on the pounds huh?

My wife's argument is that the jeweller originally sized it wrong 15 years ago, ho ho.

Seriously, now that I read the post from Wendyak I think the missus mentioned they would have to put a piece in (I think one of them needs to go up one size and the other 2 sizes (the one that needs the piece in). Thanks for the comments, just need to shop around now.
