its a response SA-P1, i think the batteries in sensors have gone which i will replace tomorrow but nowhere does it say how it indicates the internal ones in the alarm control panel or the siren ones need replacing, it says they last 3-4 years and system been in about 5-6 so need to sort it before they do go and i dont know what to do - lol

In most systems, the sensors dont have batteries, they are powered from the main control panel with a mains power supply and normally a 12volt battery back up incase of power cuts etc. The external bell is powered from the panel too and contains a 9v battery for back up. Sometimes the sounder in the bellbox needs to be replaced.
Batteries in the panel should last around 5 years.
Do you have a mains supply to the panel?

You shouldnt need to replace the whole system sass

mine is wireless so do have batteries in all sensors and will replace tomorrow as my control panle has shown me low battery, i know how to do this so dont panic - lol

yes there is a manins supply to the control panel but if the batteries are knackered and we lose power than all hells gonna break lose, like said system has been in 5-6 years and batteries last 3-4 so they are going to need replacing, are they going to cost me the earth, there is two in control panel and one in siren box

what size batteries in the panel?

Is the bell box the model with the solar panel on top? If it is then as long as it's getting a clear view of south (for sun purposes), it should recharge that way.

For full details, I've found a site with PDFs of the instruction manuals, which will be of use for you here: responseelectronics.com/sto…tml

Hope you find what you need.

sorry sassie, cant help you as we dont do those, I thought I may have been able to post you one.
Good luck anyway, and have a nice hol.

If the control panel is wired to the mains and has an internal 1.2Ah battery then you'll be fine. This type of battery will last alot longer than 5-6 years if it's only every been trickle charged, which yours will have. They will only go faulty if the mains have been disconnected and the system has been activated and completely discharged the battery.

yes i am, thank you, its just weird how the system wont tell you if these need replacing, yet it tells you the other ones in the PIR or strip sensors do

I've known control panels over 20 years old with batteries still in full working order. Usually the panel will go faulty before the battery backup. Like I said before, if the battery's never been abused, a 5-6 year life span is a joke for you to panic and ask them to sell you another.

ok, i remember replacing the other batteries about 2 years ago, the ones in the sensors, and the light came on tonight so got manual out to see which had gone as thought oh poops the main ones had, and thats how i realised it doesnt actually tell you naff all about them, just the ones in the sensors, and read 3-4 years so started panicking, my alarm system really means alot to me, i never worry once we are locked up for the night and would hate to be without it, thanks to you and skusey for your help xxx

If i dont need to replace i wont, the ones in the sensors cost me about £15 last time, but well worth it for 2 years peace, just always comes when you could do without it

also the charger for the unit is very discoloured, do you know if i could replace this

If it's just cosmetic, I wouldn't bother, but if you definitely need to replace then you can contact Response at either:

    email: [email protected]responseelectronics.com
    Telephone: 0845 373 1353 or 01252 451 632

They are open from Monday to Friday 09:00 to 17:30

    But I wouldn't bother though!!

I would have put money on Skusey to be the guy to sort it all out.
Well another holiday ; have a good vacation but make sure that you can get back this time. xxxx
