    Restoring Laptop to Factory settings

I have got a laptop today, bit confused, it a fab laptop and its gonna serve me just great but its got an upgrade of Windows Vista on it, now i want to restore it to factory settings of XP then possibly put Vista back on as i have the update disk, but first things first i wanna delete everything on laptop and have it back fresh. I have restore XP disk but that doesnt work...any ideas???

Stupid thing is full of viruses as well, its in very good condition they just havent looked after laptop properly with virus protection etc on it.

Put the XP disc in and reboot, the laptop should then boot from the CD and ask you if you want to format etc.

P.S. What make is the laptop?
