    Return purchase to ebay seller

I would like to return a purchase to an ebay seller which states that the buyer pays the postage. I chose the return option in my order history and it asks if I would like to return via royal mail or another method with associated costs. I want to use royal mail which is the lower cost but why is it quoting the cost? Is this just for information or will they provide a return label and deduct this cost from my refund?

Is this the best way for refund or should I contact seller direct?

i beleive you buy and pay for postage with paypal print the label to return it, you pay the cost now and get your refund once its returned.

    edit
If you havent contacted the seller i would also do that.

I have lots of stamps that I would like to use as payment for the return so I was hoping to go down to the post office and send the parcel back to the seller. Are you saying that doing the return via ebay, I wouldn't be able to do this?

it annoying as lot of time i could send back cheaper then the options, but when the seller accepts it asks you to accept and it takes the money from paypal

    Just contact them .

Thanks for the info. Contacted seller and they said just send the item back to them with invoice and they will refund me. I used my numerous stamps to pay for the postage.

So have you sent it with un recorded delivery? If sellers dodgy they can claim return not received.Hope it wasnt valuable

I sent it standard 2nd class. I asked for proof of posting which is free. The item is only £9.99 and the seller seems genuine with 100% feedback so I have taken a punt and trusted him. Let's hope I have not put my faith in the wrong person.

I have not yet left feedback on the item on ebay so I guess I could give a negative feedback if he doesn't return my money. I have bought another item from him before but I did not return it and I will buy more stuff from him in the future. It is an ebay shop, so not a dodgy bloke down the road.
