Returning a faulty item without original packaging

Can a retailer insist upon original packaging if an item is faulty? The item in question is a shaver that was bought online and 30 days has not yet passed since purchase.

Unfortunately, my sister threw the box away as she didn’t think she’d have to return it. It was only when comparing to mine (which is the same exact one), that we discovered the fault.
