Returning an item no longer in stock

I bought a Bosch IXO Cordless screwdriver from PC World in January, that was in the clearance, for £9.97. The problem is that it has stopped charging properly when put on the charging station. Obviously, they don't sell them any more, and a replacement costs £35 upwards. Has anyone had any experience of this in the past, and what has happened? I know i can go in and get a refund. I was going to ask for a repair, but what can i do if they say no?

    he already knows that

peodude how about contacting bosch, maybe they will offer a replacement, or buy a new one from elsewhere and take old one back with new receipt

Contact the manufacter and see if they will repair it?

Yes, i had considered contacting Bosch direct, sometimes, even though SOGA is with the retailers, sometimes it's easier to deal directly with the manufacturers. That's probably what i'll do, and see what they say.

The buy a new one and take the old one back is a good idea, but they've tweaked it ever so slightly, changed the colour and put a small led on it, so i think they would notice.
