    Returns and postal costs

    Sky news (I think) had a feature the other day about distance selling and if you return goods then you should also get a refund on the postal charges incurred with the order although you still need to pay for the cost to return it
    Can anyone confirm this? I was only half listening and am fully aware I may have misheard this

    Postal charges must be refunded by seller (though I think eBay sellers are except from this), but you still have to pay return an item.

    Ive just had an invoice for some shoes from Office website and it says
    "We regret that post and packaging charges cannot be refunded"
    Hopefully I wont need to return them and it says they can be returned to the store with a copy of the invoice which obviously means I wont need to pay to return them as such - fingers crossed they fit perfectly

    Apparently Next had been getting this wrong, but they've now corrected it. You're right, they have to refund the delivery cost.

    Funny enough im almost sorted with a claim for credit against my delivery charge on an order I had with a furniture company. My original purchase was mid May, they delivered and we opened it up there and then, decided it wasnt right, so the driver packed it up and took it back. The seller is still arguing that I am not entitled to my delivery charge back. THIS IS NOT RIGHT. The law DEFINATELY states the seller MUST refund all money, including delivery charge, as soon as possible and certainly within 30 days. There are exceptions to this rule, such as bespoke, perishables etc etc. There are time limits to these rulings, but generally if you order online you have 7 working days to cancel and request a full refund, including delivery charges. This timescale is extended too but you'll need to check out the regs on the Consumer Direct website.
    DO NOT BE PUT OFF....You are, by law, entitled to a full refund. It matters not what these companies put in their terms & conditions, the law is the law. They make silly comments like misinterpretation etc etc...thats a load of bol**x! They know exactly what the law is, but are, of course, reluctant to refund delivery costs, but the law states they must. Read the regs, it is not rocket science, these guys know exactly what the law is they just pretend to act thick when a claim is made.

    I should also point out the cost of returning the goods is yours, and the seller is under no obligation to credit that cost, unless of course the product is faulty or not as described.
