Reviews needed of HTC Hero, HTC Tattoo, Samsung Jet and Virgin Mobile!

    Hi guys,

Does anyone have the HTC Hero or Tattoo, or the Samsung Jet?

My contract expires at te end of the month and i have singled out these 3 phones as possibles. unless anyone else has any other options they think are good?

I'm favouring the HTC but put off as i don't want to spend more than about £25 for the contract (18months)

Also anyone used or with Virgin mobile? opinions?

    Cheers

Not sure if this will help but....

I had the Samsung Jet for 6 months - it is a very very limited phone. What it does it does very well, but if you are looking for something to use as a GPS, or play games on etc or add any kind of software to - avoid this.

That said, it makes calls beautifully, is brilliant to text on - the camera is fantastic and plays DIVX movies out of the box (you can use a standard nokia tv out lead it wanted).

Not used it on Virgin Mobile - but phone is easy to flash to standard firmware anyway - so wouldn't imagine this would matter too much.

However looks as if you are chasing down a smartphone - if this is the case then give the Jet a wide berth (the 5800 is a much better phone).

just hang on for a week or 2 and get the new google phone

if you cant wait get the Hero, it's a great phone.

Had the HTC Hero since launch and am very happy with it, only downside is that there arent many decent apps out there currently. But that isnt a downside for me, as the majority of apps I have used on friends iphones are about as interesting as gnawing my own leg off.

I've just got a Hero and can vouch for it. It's a great phone and prefer it to the iPhone which I used to have.

i have a Hero and realy like it,had it just over a month and still learnin how to use it properly! android marketplace is getting better, faultless touch screen, does suffer from lag sometimes though

only dissapointment for me is the camera, not very good in low light or for moving objects but good pictiures in the right conditions

hmm interesting stuff, thanks for the comments guys,

I'm a bit wowed by the hero, but it means spending 30-35 quid a month which i'm not too pleased about.

The reason for the jet was it comes up good in reviews and with virgin it is £22 for 400mins, unltd txtx and internet which is a bargain. If they use T-mobiles network... anyone on T-mobile who can give a review in the guildford, kingston or portsmouth area?

Also not sure what i want from my phone lol, the ability to go on ebay and facebook and such easily. a nice touchscreen that is easy to text and simple to use andnot too massive in my pocket as it'll only be competing for room :-D

HTC Hero all the way for me too!

Dads got the hero for christmas on t-mobile. He thinks its brilliant, have never seen him have so much interest in a phone before!

Only problem he has had, is difficulty in setting it up to his google account, ended up having to do a factory reset. SO, if you get a hero make sure you set up the phone to google account the first time you turn the phone on to prevent this from happening.

For best coverage check ]here. UMTS masts are the ones you need to look for for 3g coverage.

    thanks for that GAVINLEWISHUKD,

It would appear i should be well supported by all networks where i live,

Do you know ho far from the antennas you can be before you start to get rubbish signal? I am about 200m from the nearest ones.

    cheers

200m you should have great speed (subject to how many local users are using it). More importantly than distance though is obstacles. Ones could be closer but behind a hill or large buildings and you will receive a worse signal than one that is further away but in line of sight.
