    Ring Resizing

Where would people say is best/cheapest to get a ring resized?
A major shop, local jewellers, anywhere else?

Im in Coventry at the moment, but will also be in SE London at the weekend, then West Sussex a few days later.

local jewellers, id presume, id wait for a female member's advice, they would more likely to have done this before lol mb some guys aswell

I would go to a local jewellers who actually have a workshop and skilled craftsmen-would never take any jewellery anywhere near a high street chain. They would either send it away or butcher it.

If its a good ring let the experts do it-just look the yellow pages for a local workshop-somewhere that advertises that they make rings to your own design or similar-may cost a little more but worth it.

Had my wedding & engagement ring made smaller and OH's wedding ring made bigger at Ernest Jones. They valued them first for insurance purposes and although sent away were all back within a week and a great job done.

I'm guessing you bought that on her or something. Local jewellers would be the best option.

This was my worries, that they probably couldnt do it in store and thus higher costs probably anyways. Whereas a local one will want a customer and do a good job as they dont have a brand to hide behind. Also its more personal, and dependent on price id always prefer to give a local the money even if its a bit more. Thus i get meats from the local butcher, and often get bread from the local bakers.

Did you buy it on here is what I was saying sorry quick typing.:w00t:

First thing to decide is; do you need to get it resized?

The reason that I'm asking is because it's non reversible.

If it's because you have lost weight (or because the weather is colder at the moment) and the ring is looser, it might be worth it to do one of the following.

1 Tie a piece of wool around the ring. It will narrow it slightly and stay out of sight at the palm side of your hand.

2 Put the ring on your finger then put another ring on the same finger to keep it on.

No it needs enlarging as its a second hand ring, ive bought her a couple of rings over the years and even the one i bought her 4 years ago fits fine. I thought resizing now is reversible anyway as long as its done by laser...but im no expert...thus the question here!
