    Ring symbols

My father just died and in his house was a ring in a box. It has inside P H then underneath that is a w. Then a symbol like a boat ,then 375 . To me it is same colour as silver but if i put 375 into Google it comes up as 9ct gold .Does anyone know if its gold and what the P h stands for. Thanks very much

OP didn't mention anything about being concerned about the value.

so your dad just died and all you seem to be bothered about is a darn ring.................

"To me it is same colour as silver"
"Does anyone know if its gold"

    gold > silver

I'm just wondering why the op wants to know if its gold or not. is there some significance about the value of the ring?

PH does seem to be the maker, in birmingham (boat kind of symbol.. do you mean anchor)

I wonder what the W is?

I am sorry for your loss as well. Hope things improve. I have no idea about the symbols, but get a bit disheartened at peoples' questioning on this forum sometimes.

I doubt the OP means his father has died just this minute I guess he means fairly recently, clearing property is a hard task though both emotionally and physically, the ring probably has a sentimental value though and the OP may need to adjust their own insurance for any monetary value too.

Its hard deciding what to keep what to giveaway what to bin and what may benefit a charity, and theres always the emotion of feeling you are betraying their memory even though you know deep down you are doing whats right.

more likely to be platinum. methinks.

lets us know if you find out what the "w" is, it could be an initial of someone? does it fit with any of your relatives? ie mother/fisrt child ect? how old is the ring?

try taking it to a jewlers and they might have a better idea if the w is a hallmark or personalisation?

Thanks bykergrove i will rep you tomorrow as i have given out my quota now. I am pretty sure its not anyone initials it inside where the 375 is.

Thanks ClarityofMind. Maybe if he didnt spend his life down the pub he could have got his own wife a headstone. His children got a small headstone he paid nothing for burial either.
I think its 9ct white gold ,it was the color of it that had me wondering if it was silver but the 375 suggests its gold . Thanks every one .Thanks very much to the person that private messaged me .
