River Island - Express delivery not recieved

Found 23rd Mar 2008
I am asking for some advice regarding an order we placed with the River Island online store. Placed the order on Thursday and, needing the items for an party on Saturday eveing, we paid extra for the express delivery. I recieved an email on Friday to say that the order had been dispatched on the 20th (Thursday) and I would recieve it within 48 hours. We're still waiting.
After complaining, River Island have said that it promised to get the items to us within two working days. The dispatch email never mentioned anything about working days so I'm not very happy about the situation. Can I refuse to take delivery of the items, when they do eventually turn up, and expect a full refund?

AS far as im aware all website orders have to have a returns policy, im sure i read that somewhere. personally i would take delivery of them and then send them back. check this out its free returns

go to info, help, then returns courier
I had this problem with a Burtons order. It didn't show, and I traced it back and it was sat at the delivery depot after an apparent failed delivery (it was a work address, open all day with a receptionist).

Took 8 weeks for me to get my money back from Burtons...
Unfortunately, the delivery bit on the River Island website does say that delivery is within 48 hours if you place your order before 8am. Delivery days are Mon - Fri, excluding bank holidays (go to info - > help -> delivery on their website). So I don't think that they've done anything wrong. If you ordered on Thurs last week before 8am, next working day is Tues (tomorrow), within 48 hours would be Weds. If you didn't order until after 8am, then it could be as late as Thurs. At best, I'd accept the delivery and send it back if I was you. Refusing the delivery could mean the parcel goes missing and doesn't get back to them meaning you've got no parcel and no chance of a refund.
