Roms/Emulation Thoughts

So after realising that buying old NES games were a bad idea (some were £20+ each!), I bought a NES mini. However, there's around 8 games I want that are not available to download on the Nintendo eShop.

Part of me wants to download the 8 Roms and hack the NES mini so that I have my old collection back (I used to own these said 8 games on a cartridge until evil family threw them away), but I'm aware it's illegal.

What's everyone else's thoughts on this? If the NES game was available to purchase via download, I would - and I have as I have around 6 on my 3DS and 4 SNES games on my 3DS, but I can't decide if it's a good idea or not!

Cheers

cant be illegal to hack your own nes
your not depriving the devs of any money as they are not available elsewhere, get the ROMs then buy if they become available digitally, or find out who made the games and buy something else from them so the devs get some money.
Just buy a raspberry pi and put it in the Nintendo case.
Whilst I would normally say this type of behaviour is wrong, there will become a point whereby ROMS may well be the only way to play some of these old classics.
Yeah, nintendo are rich, just get roms haha, the devs aren't affected either by games people illegally download that are 30 years old

Personally i see no issue with this. If your copying ps4 games thats obviously wrong as your basically stealing. Emulating or copying games that can no longer be bought i see no problem with. Who does it hurt. I dont see why the big players such as nintendo sega sony etc havent jumped on this. Release every nintendo game made on an emulator for a quid each or a subscription service they would coin it in
Nintendo are robbing gets. Download away.
Jim Sterling has something to say on this matter

You'll have to weight up how this fits with your ethics, but putting the additional ROMs on your system is, as you say, illegal. I get the feeling that you're just trying to salve your own guilt here.

Most of the major titles *are* available for purchase digitally, via the Wii U virtual console.

Tell that to walt Disney
There's a guy selling a raspberry pi on here maybe consider one of those with retropie and then you can have all the classic consoles and games
