I'm selling some things, and was going to post out the items tomorrow, is it worth waiting till the strike is over then posting them?

I'm going to post something recorded. I thought they were bringing in some extra workers to cover the whinners union?

are they on strike tomorrow?

Dont think it'll make much difference...they'll sort through the items that were posted during the strike first so i'd of said sooner you post it, sooner its get there...?

supposedly

special delivery and recorded delivery are dealt with by the managers and those who arent striking as they've 'more important' than mail sent standard 1st or 2nd post. So technically, special and recorded delivery should be delivered on time.

but then again it might get lost in amongst all th back log, its just a hassle tbh why do they need to strike!!!! its not as if there gettin paid pennies for doin a skilled job, theres plenty of people that would bite their hands off for a job

spoke to my postman this morning he is on strike Friday.

O no im waiting for a very important package,

About 42,000 mail centre staff and drivers will walk out on October 22 for 24 hours, followed by another 24-hour stoppage on Friday 23 by 78,000 delivery and collection staff.

This is what someone in my work sent round who deals with our post...

posted few things earlier - post office said they have extra staff in to sort - depends on whether drivers decide to go out

i have been telling buyers there maybe a delay and asking to confirm delivery - in case they were unaware of strike!!:-D

i agree...i mean they're taking on 30,000 temp staff to cover x-mas rush/backlog from strike. Surely they can just offload the strikers and hire them 30,000 on a permanent basis??

Special Delivery will not be guaranteed tomorrow or Friday. They will 'prioritise' SD's but no guarantee. They used to be guaranteed during strikes but not this one. Instructions to this effect were delivered to Post Offices today.

Recorded Delivery just goes in the ordinary post anyway and gets no special handling - so these wont even be 'prioritised.

Our works post man has said deliverys tomorrow should be as normal, and on Friday, it just depends on how many people decide to actually work at our local depot.

they have, they said if its recorded or special delivery should be fine as these are priority mail, the others not so sure lol

Recorded Delivery is not priority mail.

The extra people will not be out on delivery and special deliverys are not guarenteed like the last strike. recorded is not any different from 1st or 2nd class mail anyways so will not be priorotised. Recorded mail gets delivered in the same system as 1st and 2nd class while special delivery has its own system where it is signed alonmg the way

I would wait, reason being as where I used to live in periods of staff … I would wait, reason being as where I used to live in periods of staff shortage, parcels and packets used to just build up into a massive heap and when it was tackled, the newest from the top got delivered first and the oldest were sat at the bottom of the pile. From the words of a postie at the sorting office, it was true too, the newest only had minor delays, the older parcels were "missing" for 2 odd months before delivery:x

This would be true if there was prolonged strikes, the actual delivery office will most likely deliver all of fridays and saturdays mail/packages on saturday. As for the actual mail centres the same thing will happen so most items posted today and tommorrow will be delivered monday/tue but as most people will hold off on sending items anmd firms sending items throiugh couriors i doubr it will be to bad

look forward to working with you! btw u got bog all chance of taking our jobs cause you,ll be back on the dole xmas eve when you,ve done our donkey work! muwahh muwahh! oh and keep you fingers you get a less militant office cause scabs tend to trip over alot :whistling:

Why arent all these workers happy and grateful they have a job?

I work really hard to earn money and rely on the postal service to send smaller parcels that are too expensive to go by courier.

Do most of the workers even know what they are on strike about ? If so why arent they all down the picketlines? From what I seen there were only a handful of them were actually there - the rest probably in the pub or lazing in bed enjoying a day a unpaid leave.

If this angers you then where will you be when they do hire a load of other staff and you are sacked?

The other really cheeky thing is at cwu.org/roy…tml they are asking for donations to "help" the Royal Mail workers!!!!

GO TO WORK !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
