a bit of advice for me (the buyer) and a seller on here please.

I bought an item a few weeks ago, was sent recorded but never turned up, the seller is now putting in a claim for the missing parcel but doesnt have original receipt for the item as it was a gift a while ago. Just trying to help them claim so we both dont lose out

How do they proceed/ What info should be sent instead?

Any help greatful

the problem is they dont want to know what I sold it for, they want to know what it cost to me....I just dont get it lol

if it was sent recorded then they have your address inc postcode, I would tell them to go back to the post office where the item was dispatched from and explain the situation, if no joy they call always phone head office ( 01752 387112 ) also ask if the payment was made via c/c or debit,

if you show them roughly what it cost to buy then show them a copy of thread showing what you actually sold it for (presumably less ) they will probably happily pay out you dont need a reciept to claim

I have done this, and got the form I need to fill in, its just the issue with the proof of value. Form says;

"for all claims for loss or damage, original evidence of value and … "for all claims for loss or damage, original evidence of value and posting must be provided if you are claiming compansation for the actual cost of an item"One of the items I must include is described as:"original proof of value if claiming for the contents e.g the till reciept, bank statement etc"

That's not right surley, as long as you can show the transaction, eg BT or paypal that is what they have to pay you, don't take no for an answer, I have had to argue my case on lost of items that have gone missing and have always had my money, be a pain in the asre :thumbsup:

I had the same problem a while ago, i sent the buyer an item, he claimed he didnt get it, the item was a gfx card that no shop sold anymore-i didnt have a reciept, I sent Royal Mail a link and a printed page for an Amazon Market place seller/auction the exact same item, I only sold the card for £5-£10, the auction was selling it for £30, I got the £30. Thats how much it would have cost me to replace the card. I gave the buyer a full refund (£5-£10) as thats how much he paid. :thumbsup:

Yeah I think I will get the BT information, and print the thread out....if they want any more information then Im sure they will ask for it?? Just seems an odd thing to require proof of original cost.

think this is the best option though :thumbsup:

They are looking to pay out the least amount of money. If you sold it for £10 and you paid £5 for it, then they will pay you £5 as that is the replacement cost. If it was the other way round, they will pay you £5 as that is what you got for it when you sold it. It's perfectly reasonable as they are simply making sure that you aren't trying to fraudulently obtain money.

Simple solution is to try and obtain a quote from a company that still sells said item.

its strange, u could understand if u were claiming full amount but its not

I'm a bit confused as to whether the buyer has had a refund,as they should get one regardless of whether the seller gets paid out from RM

Get in touch with Radley direct and they may be able to assist with a typical RRP price, Failing that, try Lakeland Leathers (big Radley seller and they are nothing to do with - just that I have had excellent customer service from them in the past) and ask them if they can help you.

we agreed to wait until it was refunded.....nessy and I are working together to try and sort it asap (had to leave it so long to put a claim in in the first place)

Good idea....I will email radley and attach a picture of the bag, will see what they say but I think as I dont know the actual model of the bag they might not be able to help me

I havnt yet, as the 15 working days is only just up, wanted to wait just in case it turned up

well done to nessy for being so understanding ive seen lots of people wanting refunds when items hadnt turned up after 7 days and being paid by sellers leaving them out of pocket and i bet some of them eventually turned up so got a freebie.

What does the online tracking say,also have you tried ringing RM as sometimes they can give you more information directly if you give them the tracking number:thumbsup:

there is no way I am sending my complete bank statement to them....if they lost the bag they could lose that.....I will give them the transaction details but not the whole statement :?

have got a reply from Radley already.....told me the style and an approx RRP so I will include this email, along with the sale thread and details of the BT and get it sent off...just need to find a black pen now!!! lol

i sold something on here before Christmas and it went missing, i had to send off my msgs from here saying how much i sold for, how much was paid and buyer etc.. then had to print off my paypal reciept thingy me bob to show payment ...

That accepted that and refunded the money (£23) with that information...
