Royal Mail signed for compensation

I want to send some postage stamps to a buyer in the UK. I have looked at Royal Mail signed for service, which compensates you up to £50 for loss.

This is fine as the stamps only cost just over £20.

However, it is not clear if this would be covered for compensation if the letter is lost as there seems to be special delivery when you start searching for sending valuables in the post?
