    Royal Mail slow this week?

    Hi all

Has anyone else noticed Royal Mail being slow this week. Is it because of the Bank Holiday. I sent a letter to my mum on Tuesday First Class via a post box and she hasn't received it yet & an item I sent via post box I posted Monday evening has not been recieved by an ebayer.

I know nothing is guaranteed the next day but they are usually 98% in my experience!!

its generally the case after a BH. they cant process 3 days mail in 1 day

they'd be a bit overstaffed if they could!

There was a strike on Tuesday. I have a weekly magazine delivered on a Tues and it's only just turned up today so looks like they're a couple of days behind

Wrong attitude you have there, if this happened companies would be able to walk all over their workers.

Think ours are going on strike today, so that'll be fun.

they've not had pay cuts though have they? my husband is self employed & works for other companies earning just over half of what he did last year so i think they are lucky their pay isn't decreasing & that they have work!

You will find the management have a way of spinning the strikes to show workers in a bad light so yourself and all the other blinkered public lay the blame on the honest worker who is fighting for what he has a right too.

If you worked there you would understand the situation the workers are in.

They guy that delivers mail for us works his socks off in all weathers for very little thanks or money.

Definately slower, just got a parcel I ordered about two weeks ago.

very slow round here at the moment, first class taking 2-3 days, normally spot on

i posted a recorded parcel last tuesday and person still hasnt recived it. Got to wait till the 15th to claim :x

Nope unions are destroying the jobs markets like they have done in the … Nope unions are destroying the jobs markets like they have done in the past, striking themselves out of business because they can, they need to get real. If they were not RM workers and say for arguments sake working for a private courier, they would be out on their ear before they know it.It's a recession they need to learn to make sacrifices like everyone else, less hours, less pay, or changed hours they need to be greatful they have a job.Pretty soon all this will be privatised out, it's like the fire service strikes have lead to private contracts when they all striked last time it was the armed services who had to cover, now they are overstretched, the govt brought in private cover just in case costing the taxpayer more and lead to the firemen , wanting to strike over again as cut backs need to be made.I have a postie in the family and even he thinks the unions are dinasour which needs culling, you don't see frontline NHS staff of the armed forces go on strike do you, they can't and in most cases put up and shut up, everyone is suffering. Rm striking will just harm small business and harm themselves in the process. All that will happen is you will see the privatisation happen quicker as the govt brings in more agency workers, and civvy it out as we call it. Like the fire service, NHS, Armed forces, no shortage of people wanting work.

You would make a good manager by the sounds of it.

I'm sure if it was upto you all workers would be working for minimum wage and be grateful for it.
Unions are an important part in the workplace, without them we would be in a sorry state.
You will never realise how important they are until you have to depend on them.

The most important thing to remember in this society is that if you look after your workers they will look after you, bottom line.

The workers are balloted to strike, the workers decide whether strike action is appropriate, not the union.

You aren't related to Margaret Thatcher btw ?
