Found 28th May 2008
I've been silent for too long(it's been building up in me like a tornado and has finally led to this), I demand to know why I can't buy Royster's crisps anywhere!

or nicely put, I'd love to know where I can buy them!

Multipacks or boxes only please. Pallet-loads would be a death sentence!

Am I looking in the wrong places? T-Bone steak are the daddies, but I recall they were all pretty nice.

mmmmm sound nice, i never tried then b4:roll:

just found this on the net!

Roysters Crisps: I wonder how many people remember "Roysters, the American style crisp"? These were launched with a television advertising campaign, which omitted to mention the way in which these 'crisps' are made. If the advert had mentioned the facts, sales of the American-style snack would have plummeted. Luckily, the product seems to have been withdrawn, and the threat to you, the public, has apparently been swept under the corporate carpet (however, I now have my doubts about Brannigan's). Those of you who have ever suffered a bad scald from hot water will know of the large blister, containing an unpleasant fluid, which forms shortly afterwards. These blisters, which were inflicted upon workers in terrible sweat-shop style warehouses, when removed and deep fried until golden brown formed Roysters. This painful process demanded high material costs, which is why Roysters could fetch anything up to 28p a packet - and you don't get many scald blisters to a packet, either. But where, I ask you to consider, is the production facility now? A disturbing thought.

Spar at the BP garage here sells them.

I find them in shops near me T-Bone Steak are quality!

Normally not cheap though

Yeah but the problem i find with these is they leave the roof of my mouth in tatters - they are too hard and 'honest' for my liking Tasty though no doubt, and probably great if you opened and then left them for a day or so!

But once you start opening crisps a day in advance you are on a slippery slope...down that path madness lies

A fine person on here mentioned 'Branigans' - I'd forgotten about them - they were exceptional too! And they came in the kind of classy, paper-effect packet that Alan Partridge would leave around his pog-n-poll kitchen!

And BTW, thanks for the offers and suggestions but one pack wouldn't do - I want them back in the major supermarkets(I'll check Morrisons out tomorrow). I think my point is, why aren't the major supermarkets stocking them?

Whenever the urge takes me to buy my most fondly remembered crisps I seem to be let down.
In fact I would suggest that crisp quality in general has gone down since I was a kid:

Monster Munch used to be big fluffy articles that all the salt and flavouring stuck to, now they appear to be small, plastic coated affairs with fused surfaces....or something.
Crispbags used to be 30g, then 27g now 25g - like you can imagine someone in a boardroom saying 'we need to achieve a 3% positive net profit growth this year - how do we do it?' And someone suggesting they put less in a bag.

Nik-naks aren't the same, quavers are slightly worse, scampi fries are still as good, discos are ever-so-slightly less moreish. The reintroduction of fish'n'chips wasn't great.

All in my opinion etc...it's not a proven fact(Don't want anyone suing and ruining my life cos I said their crisps were now *****)

I realise it's only crisps but god-damn it if it isn't worth mentioning!

makro
