Running Watch?

looking to get someone a present theve started running alot now, done a few charity races, was wondering what a good watch for them would be?

idealy the watch would be able to tell the distance ran, and other basic functions, any one got any recomendations?

also what price should i expect to pay?

Try Sigma (German) or Polar Heart Rate Monitor watches. In addition to time & memory functions, you want the device to measure average heart rate, time within programmed ranges, calorie consumption, training level as a percentage of maximum heart rate etc. Periodically Lidl or ALDI sell HRM's which are fine & very cheap (

My uncle has the garmin one - and says it's amazing. You can link it to the computer after your run and it shows you graphs and details of, for example, heartrate throughout the journey and knows when you're going uphill. Basicaly it's so clever I don't understand how it does it all!
