Ryan Airways - Denied Boarding Compensation

Has anyone dealt with Ryan Airways regarding denied boarding? I could really do with some advise please.

I have just returned from Lanzarote with my 2 kids and my mother. We should have been on a flight at 17.15 hours - but every half hour they said it was delayed a further half hour due to weather conditions. Then at 9.00pm we were told it was due to land and we would definitely be flying home. It arrived at 10.15pm and at 11.15pm we were told it wouldn't be flying because the pilot had run out of flying time. We were then given a list of hotels and told to find a room and go as the airport was closing for the night!! I then phoned hubby to tell him of the delay and he said he knew an hour previously!! We also found out that Bristol did not accept any flights after 2am and so by 10pm it would have been known we couldn't have flown home but we weren't told.

Also hubby had travelled to the airport which is a 1½ hour drive as Bristol confirmed it had left Lanzarote and would be just an hour late!

The flight was then due to go out the following day at 12.30 and left one hour later as they were late arrranging buses to the plane. Arrived home at 5.30pm 20 hours late.

I know the weather cannot be helped but it was the lack of communication and wrong information which was given which turned it all a bit sour!

Has anyone dealt with this previously - if so please give me some pointers.

Thank to one and all - Debs

I have realised that!! But that doesn't help me now when I have shed out £200 for an extra night in a hotel and for taxis!!

I am pretty sure its in their terms and conditions that they dont compensate you...try your travel insurance company

Really helpful advice you've been given by the previous poster. Ignore them. 'm pretty certain it was posted on here but if not try a site called paidtoshop or moneysaving expert. There is a passenger charter which includes information about compensation in these circumstances. I don't know the full details but I know it depends on the distance you have flown and obviously the time you were delayed. Definately don't let it drop and do a bit more research. I'll have a quick look and if I find anything i'll pm you x

They may have a get out clause in that they cited bad weather as the cause of the delay but it's definately worth following up. Don't trust anything they say - look into the weather yourself if you can. The airlines will do anything to put you off claiming the compensation you're due.

You should have been offered refreshments, phone calls etc at least. I'd give them a call and advise that you are intending claiming the compensation, see what they say and take it from there.

Keep all receipts, boarding cards etc - don't throw anything out. I've pm'd you - good luck

I had a bad experience with easyjet recently where they were the only carrier to cancel all their flights, we couldn't wait around so got a flight with Aer lingus. Got home and straight on the blower to try and get compensation they refused due to weather, got onto our insurance they refused because it was less than 24hrs. I then sent a load of emails to easyjet and eventually got a full refund of the €300 we had to pay to fly with Aer lingus

equals we're happy but won't be flying budget when travel dates are critical.

Then you are wrong, the OP is entitled to compensation under the circumstances.
