Ryanair - anybody knows a way around this?

Was looking for some flights on ryanair. Checked a one way flight for 1 adult - free flight, just paying taxes, so i thought perfect. Then added a 2nd passenger and suddenly the price for BOTH is 19.99 (rather than the one at 0.00 i had before plus one at 19.99 in case it was really the last free flight) plus taxes.
Anybody knows a way around this? I can't make 2 separate booking as 2nd passenger is a child.

the problem is that ryanair's booking system automatically takes the higher fare when 2 or more passengers travel together.

Dont know. Yeh, how would that help?

If this is true, and you can't do them separately since the other person is a child, I'm struggling to think how on earth you think this could be circumvented. Since separate booking seem to be the only possible way to get around it.

What's the To / From locations? Perhaps get someone else to have a try.

Does the fare depend on online checkin?
If you travel with a child they will not let the child through as an online checkin.

"The following passengers do not qualify for Online Check-in:
    Passengers travelling with checked baggage
Children aged between 14-18 years travelling alone
    Passengers travelling with infants (*)
Passengers travelling with mobility equipment (including children's pushchairs)
Passengers with reduced mobility, blind/visually impaired passengers including those travelling with a sighted companion or guide dog (*)
Passengers who require special assistance at the airport (*)
Online Check-In is not available from Malta, Romania or Moroccan Airports
Passengers travelling on a passport which is due to expire within 30 days from the date of travel
Passengers who have reserved an extra seat for musical instruments, fragile/valuable items or comfort.
When there are more than 9 passengers booked in a reservation

Passengers travelling on the same reservation with a passenger who is not entitled to Online Check-in. "

I've had this on several occasions so doesn't depend on the location. The ones i was looking for right now was from Bratislava to East Midlands on Sept 8.

Nothing to do with that, price comes up even before you select type of check-in,
(also, i always use online check in, with or without childre - no problem there)

We are travelling to Malta in October and have chosen online check in option to keep cost down. It didn't come up with any info about this not being possible from Malta. Would they charge for check in if online check in is unavailable? (silly question as they charge for everything!!!!)

Children can have online check in as long as everyone else in the party is.

Sorry I said Child before should have said infant.

The quote I put in was from the Ryanair website. Malta gets a mention. I assume they would charge you when you want to come back. £4 each.
