Samsung 40" LE40M87BDX/XEU HD Ready Freeview Widescreen LCD TV 1080p or ?

Anybody got one or know where the cheapest place is for one? play have them in stock at £979.99 Delivered, and it states it has a 1080p panel, so i take it runs the higher resolution rather than upscaling it.

any advice or comments are welcome, i have a budget of £1000 but like to spend less or even get a 37" as its a bedroom lcd.

Yes through component or VGA but your Tv needs to accept 1080p through those connections. The only 1080p game on the xbox 360 I can think of is virtua tennis 3.

i have a PS3 also which has Blu-ray, its more for the movie's rather than games.

i also have SKy HD but not sure if that will run 1080p anybody?

To be honest, I think you'd be doing yourself an injustice by not going 1080p as 1080i (HD Ready - and not Full HD) is in essence an obselete technology.

Xbox360, PS3, Blu-Ray and HD DVD are all native 1080p (with the correct cables) and the new HDMI 1.3 format is pushing things further forward to crisper pictures - ditto with high-end PC's / laptops - where even XGA is now considered old hat in most circles.
Sky is at 1080i at present, as the bandwidth to show 1080p isnt available yet - but give it time.

Unless you have a severe budget to keep to, I'd stear clear of anything short of 1080p.

My recommendation would be a Samsung as in my experience they have shown to be some of the best screens.

    hope this helps

I have a 40" samsung LCD at the moment thats HD ready and its great apart from the crappy speakers, but to be honest i mostly use it through a 5.1 system.

    the picture is superb though.
