    Samsung 840 Evo 1tb SSD

I am going to buy two of them for a reasonable price. I am not worried about the price, but the main question if it is sealed , then it is legit? Or anyone know any special scam when they put a sticker on it etc.
How can I post pictures here? Thanks. I am new. Or can I share here my facebook post?:)

No idea, you have to say where they're coming from. They could be used or damaged stock or 256GB flashed to report 1TB like sdcards. Just because something has stickers doesn't mean much. You can buy tamper stickers from ebay I bet.

What do you mean 256gb flashed to report 1tb?:) how would they do that? you need to exchange then the original 1tb into another one.
They don't look like used or damaged for sure. The only what I can imagine to fiddle with the sticker. Well I supposed to buy this tomorrow. What I can do, that I can bring an original one, which will be on me, and then I can compare this one with my original one

Ok, I google it. I try to buy Samsung evo 840 1tb ssd sticker, and I can ask for proof of purchase, since the warranty would be valid only if the original buyer would use it, if there is any problem...

You just flash the controller to report 1TB instead of 256GB. You would only find out if you went over the 256GB. It's a very good way of making money fast for disgruntled employees.

That would be very nasty. Anyway, I couldn't find any sticker for sale. But I guess I should ask at least the date of purchase and the name for it, and a receipt. Since if there is any problem, I must provide receipt and date of purchase and name.

Nice site man. Thanks. If I ask for a proof of Purchase, that should be alright?

this is what the seller has told me: I don't have a warranty as he bought them and left them for me wrapped up and stuff. So what does that mean?

Worse that could happen is that you buy a fake with MLC & SLC. Could just be stolen goods. The receipt just proves who bought it legally, you would say it was a birthday present or such like.

How reasonable is reasonable? That will be an indicator of how legit the seller is. For me I would probably pay a extra to get from a legit site or through eBay so I know I'm protected. You can check the actual size on flashed ones just search on Google it will verify the size.

Trolling idiot. I bought items in the past and they've either turned out to be fake or faulty and each time I have got my money back. Go back under your bridge

Ok. Ebay is good, but you pay an extra for your product, but you are protected. What is MLC and SLC? If I want to sale on EBAY how much is the cost of that? I know that there is some fee to use paypal as well...

Just search for an eBay fee calculator as it is a percentage of the price it goes for including PayPal fees. I would warn you, you have less rights as a seller than if your a buyer on eBay. MLC is a cheaper form of memory in an ssd it is slower than slc because it allows 4 bytes of data to be stored in one cell unlike slc which only allows one. This means mlc is slower and less reliable. For normal home usage mlc is fine however if your really worried about loosing data either buy an slc or just make sure you backup any important info in multiple places.

Ok, how do I know whether my SSD is slc or mlc? it is written in the features?
Yes, fee calculator, thanks. Well I would sell even on amazon but I don't like the VAT. However if I would be VAT registered then it is fine, but then I don't what is the negative consequence regarding that for my taxation.

everybody has a bad experience at one point with any company I haven't a clue why you lost £40 but sometimes it's because people aren't cautious enough. Rather than troll like some angry hormonal pregnant woman. Waste your energy on eBay.

    Rather than spoil a thread.

    Bar humbug

Isn't there a way to check on Samsung's website if the SSDs serial report to a listed type. I know with Intel you can check warranty which also shows the product information

    for example
serial xxx-sss-xxx reports 256GB samsung evo 840 warranty expired.
    serial ccc-sss-ccc reports 1TB samsung 850 pro - 1 year warranty left
    you get my drift.

You're right, you don't know what happened. As a matter of fact, you don't seem like you know very much, but hey ho there's always gullible people out there who believe certain companies BS,

"Protected on eBay", oh how I larfed...

Yes, but I would need to provide proof of purchase as well, but the seller cannot provide these details. Dodgy one.....
