Banned
Anyone who has dealt with samsung warranty before, does adding ram to a laptop void the warranty.

Can't take out the ram added because the head of the screw is blunt.
Need a quick answer please.

I don't know about PC and laptops, but with netbooks it will void the warranty.

What RAM are you upgrading?

with a laptop or a desktop, the case is designed to be opened and adding ram is fine

if you have to disassemble it like a netbook, then you cant

Regardless of if it did or did not, stripping the screw probably has. So even if you took it out they'd know, typically it shouldn't do, I always put stuff back to stock before returning it though as it's in their T & Cs that they can bin anything extra, well don't guarantee to return it.

You don't have to take a Sammy NC10 apart to change the RAM - it's just a little hatch on the bottom. One screw and you're in.

then you are not voiding any warranty, its just a defective screw on the hatch
but if your ram was in there when you sent it away for repair, it may not be there when it comes back though! may be replaced with standard

no reason not to fix the keyboard, a hatch means user upgradeable

Would they actauly check it though ,because the ram has nothing to do with the keyboard , just wondering if they would use it as an excuse not to fixs it under warranty.

Thanks for help so far repped.

If there are stickers that warn of possible revocation of warranties, you can safely ignore them. It is illegal for the stickers to supersede the law. If the laptop has inherent faults, it makes no odds what warnings are given with regards to revocation of warranties.

One thing to bear in mind is that the warranty DOES NOT apply for faults that occur due to user error. If the board was damaged due to an error on your part (and if it could be proven) then there is no course for recompense.

it shouldnt make any difference, unless they can prove you damaged the keyboard whilst putting in ram, that is down to them to prove also

they wont necessarily check the ram, i supposed if they run a full system fault checker and if it found fault in the ram, then they would fix it, but if they decide its a simple keyboard replacement then no need to muck about touching stuff that works fine

I'd actually put a note on about the ram to make sure it doesn't go 'missing'.
