    Banned
Having probs getting PC to recognise the new HDD, any ideas?

Bought Samsung Spinpoint 1.5TB HDD and connected it to Lacie case, connected and working, sounds like its working, PC's recognise it to an extent, but more like its a device? Its in device manage...click and it just comes up with properties, it comes up in bottom safe removal mode...cant move files to it or browse

    any ideas?

No, go to computer management> disk management and do it if the disk is showing up.

    He's on with it.

Wouldn't bother with full format, unnecessary in this day and age and ridiculously time consuming as you're finding out.

Yeah I thought about maybe doing a quick one. What exactly are the benefits of a full format?

With regards to this, as you purchased an OEM internal drive they don't usually come ready out the box hence why you're going through this palaver.

It's a relic from the old days. Modern disks shouldn't need it. Someone may disagree with me but most people don't bother.
