    Samsung tv

Hi just wondered if anyone could help with this problem .
I bought a 46" samsung tv and when watching films via DVD or USB etc , or whatever source the picture quality is more like camcorder or hd and dosnt have that Hollywood feel to it , ie to much detail.
I know u think I'm whining but it dons,t look real to me ?

Any ideas appreciate the advice .

Most new tv's take a few weeks to settle down, SD pictures can appear poor on large screen lcd and plasma screens. Have you tried to watch any HD content?

also, make sure you dont have game mode enabled.

Yes it's the same , its to realistic and seems to be missing some kind of filter on the screen ,
I was told that the fomat they use for films is different for normal tv ?

    Cheers.

Can you turn the 100hz off? That solved it for me. Also go to AVforums & look for suggested settings for your model.

Well for starters, you have to remember that dependent on your source material picture quality is going to vary, and it is more apparent on an LCD TV than on an old CRT...such is the case with your PC, unlike the old CRT days, try changing the screen resolution in windows and everything looks awful unless at its native resolution.

Pixelation is bound to occur particularly on heavily compressed videos such as DivX via USB, and also DVDs are encoded at much lower bitrates than Blu Ray, and quality of such are all dependent once again on either your DVD Players upscaling chipset, or your TVs upscaling chipset.

Add to this factor the size of your TV, how far away are you from the screen watching? A 46" TV is going to need you to sit 12 feet away from it at 576P (DVD Quality) to lessen the amount of pixelation you see.

[This website] is a handy resource.

If the format used for films is incorrect, ensure that both your tv and your dvd players screen options are BOTH set to 16:9 (Widescreen)

Is the OP saying the picture quality has too much detail and looks too realistic? oO

On my samsung, if you have the 100hz setting on it looks weird like its almost too real. It's hard to describe. Switching the setting to off or low sorts it out though.

    Oh I see.

Same with the 100Hz setting, makes things look weird, faster than real life... but not... weird describes it better

How do u change the htz setting .

    Cheers

Mine is the same. Initially looks 'too good', like a documentary but after a while you get used to it.
