Hey,

I am looking to purchase the i900 and debating whether to go for mobile internet or not for an extra £150 for 18 months. I would not be using mobile internet much but only for google maps when im out and about. It would be cheaper to purchase the TomTom NAVIGATOR 6 Software & Maps of Western Europe DVD and slap it in. However, does the TT thing require internet connection? or any other costs to make it run to its full potential?

Thanks

Why not consider the o2 xda orbit 2?
this has built in sat nav, gps wifi etc and so on
you can also put the genuine tomtom maps on it if you want
You can choose to have unlimited web browsing for free, or you can have unlimited txts, or unlimited weekend calls, and have the unlimited browsing for an extra £7.50 a month?

thanx for the reply karen, i have taken a liking to the orbit 2 a few months back but it is still pretty expensive, the i900 has the features of the orbit but is cheaper.
£35/month for 12 months or 18 months with free internet. There is a difference of £210, but if i turn the 12 month one into an 18 month but factoring in a sim only deal for the 6 months at £10/month makes this a £150 difference between no internet or internet.

]link for the TT software and maps
i am right sayin that using the sat nav just for directions and normal use would not require any data charges?

yes thats correct, the maps are included on the memory card, and the gps use is free
only time you might want to go online is if you add points of interest such as pubs and want to check the phone number of the closest one... not needed though.
