Sat tracking and garage telling fibs.

My car has been in a major garage on 4 occasions for the same fault in the last two weeks.
They have had it this time for two days.
They came and collected it yesterday AM, and my company have a very expensive hidden tracking system in it which I have live online tracking of on the internet.

They left here yesterday just before 9am, they had been speeding above the 30mph speed limit on two different roads. At around 5pm last night, they moved the car into the car park. Today the doors have not even opened, and the car has not moved or engine started all day.

I have just had a call missed and the voice message from the garage states they have been working on the car for two days and also need it tomorrow and it should be dropped off tomorrow night....

I am a bit miffed, and hate being lied to...

Should I take the data in to the manager, or to head office... Or just leave it.

    Vauxhall

Can you print a log of it's activity? I'd love to ask what they have done today and then ram the log right up their lying nose (?).

    Wow fancy gadget

It is a lie and they should not be lying so shove it in head office's face

It depends what you want. If it's getting it fixed properly, I'd tell the local manager what you have and that you don't appreciate being lied to.This may prompt them into pulling their finger out and fixing the car though, if they've tried four times before and failed, they're probably too stupid to be able to do it. Most of the larger main dealers seem to employ nothing but fitters who I wouldn't trust to change a 13 amp plug.

Faced with a bit of embarrassment, they might decide to call in someone who actually understands the car and is capable of diagnosing and fixing it (such people do still exist but they don't work for national minimum wage )

Otherwise, just tell them you're going to Vauxhall Head Office to complain about them and the car. They may not care if they're big enough to stick two fingers up at Vauxhall but that's life!

Go straight to the service manager, or even the Dealer Principal. Make noises, but not shouting. It'll be sorted in a heartbeat then. Take the evidence with you.

The system is a masternaut system. It even works out how GREEN we are as drivers by the acceleration and deceleration.

They also do watches for workers with built in GPS and GPRS data so managers can see exactly where employees are... Big brother.

Anyway, just spoken to the manager who is not happy that I have been incorrectly updated.
He has arranged a hire car (not a garage car) to be delivered at the garage's cost.

I did not mention the speeding as the guys who drop and delivery are normally very nice, and it was only about 15% above the speed limit.

Still not happy, I just hope they fix the problem.

On the bright side at least they haven't been racing it around town. lol

That happens apparently. Security staff borrowing cars to get a late night kebab.
I was hoping to see the logs showing movement at 3am, but nothing.

I think the initial install is around £130, kit around £300, and a subscription of around £30 a month.

it is very accurate, some authorities use it for the gritters so they know what roads they have gritted or not. They say they can use the data in court if someone claims they crashed because a road had not been gritted so it saves them money.

Pink Meet & Greet at Gatwick comes to mind there :?

Excellent system, I bet it's expensive, but looks wonderful. I hope you get it all sorted. I would suggest that you write a letter after the car has been sorted and explain that the car tracks speed as well, and you are aware that it was used over the speed limit also. It might just make them think twice in the future about how they treat people's cars.

Thanks for sharing. Rep added for all the info on the tracking system.

What a fantastic system! I never knew it existed.

I wonder if the garage is charging man hours on the job? If so, then they should be approached for sure... However, if they looked at it on the first day, needed a part and then left the car the second day as the part hadn't come in - then I think fair enough.

15% above the speed limit is enough to get caught on camera and fined.

lol.....i remember seeing something on one of those. Think it was that Matt Allbright program.

That tracking device sounds fantastic !! I'd love to get one fitted to my nan, just out of curiosity - see exactly what she gets up to during the day and the speeds she manages to get out of her mobility scooter....:p

    Hiya,

Could I ask whats wrong with the car?

The only driving/speeding they have done so far is from the house when they picked up to the garage.

When it gets dropped off, I do plan to track it live, and be waiting at the end of the drive with the netbook showing him the route and data of his journey back.

Got it in my work van though the motion sensor doesn't appear to be active. The GSM is kicking in though as you get the stupid electro magnetic radiation interference on the radio. Wouldn't let my employer attach one to my person thats just insane and would come under harassment in the work place due to excessive monitoring. Have done 90mph on country road and not had any come back.
