I bought some fresh sausages from Asda, reduced, there more meaty one's, and stuck them in the freezer. I have now come to cook them and there are no instructions, so i i have put them in the middle of the oven at 160C, and i'm expecting them to take about an hour,

Grill/Barbecue fastest

ive never put sausages in the oven, shallow fried in just a little oil or grill yes. Put them in the George Forman - well tasty!

I prefer to oven cook sausages - they come out more moist than grilling usually. Keep turning them - and I also would turn up to 180. I think around 30 mins - but it does depend on the thickness.

You have de-frosted them first right?

yes they will probably need defrosting first! then you can fry/bake/grill/George them ...................... or even boil them yuk!!!!
You'll know when they're done by the colour .. about half to 3/4 hr for fatty's in the oven
15/20 mins to fry

oven cooking isn't the best way i must say, unless you're lazy of course:p

i think you might be right, i'll be having words with the MRS! :-D

Use the heat within your nose to defroze from, hence put them in your nose. Also enjoy the brain freeze.

Get yourself a food probe - best thing I ever got for the kitchen.

No more guessing if food is cooked through - fresh/frozen food needs to be 75 deg. C in the centre.

You'll be surprised how long/quick some food takes to cook through, which you would have normally either left on for longer and dried it out or taken off too early and had to re-cook.

Damn, i was waiting for replies inControl Panel but forgot auto subscribe doesn't work when you only have the main post.

Well, they are still cooking now, i didn't defrost them first, no, i just put them on a low temperature to cook slowly and give them a chance to defrost before they started burning.

I think i can go turn it up to 180C now though, otherwise i'll be here all day

Actifry them if you have one :P

Ahh well, it's too late now, but i'll remember for next time  Hopefully cooking them slowly for ages will do the trick, i didn't bother turning it up, as they were coming along nicely.

Why can't they just put some instruction on the packet for us non cooking folks!

There is no way to say this without someone taking it the wrong way so I shall just say it...

I now have a craving for sausage....

You still live?

I am still here, alive and well, yes :giggle:

I think it's ok to cook meat obtained from four legged animals from frozen, whilst you must defrost the two legged stuff.

So, Beef, pork, lamb is ok to cook from frozen. Chicken, turkey would not be.

My mate says it's ok to cook chicken from frozen provided it's not on the bone! I never have though.

Also I always make sure I cook fish from defrosted, but I've bought Frozen Salmon Fillets that say they can be cooked from Frozen. It's all so confusing.
