to all the people that said it wouldnt happen or it doesnt affect me because i dont live in barking when i posted a thread a few weeks ago about the post office cutting saturday deliveries in barking if you got the mail yesterday you will know they are now planning to do this nationwide so if you work mon-fri you wont be able to get something redelivered they will change it to you must collect from your delivery office bearing in mind they will get rid of 30000 staff and 69 delivery offices as well as the 9000 delivery offices and over 60000 additional staff when they lose the government contract making it harder for you to find an open delivery office using the excuse that they have to cut costs in a year when allan leighton made 18 million in bouses alone and he has already said he wants to privatise the p.o. service i wonder wether hes intentionally trying to run it into the ground so he can say to the government the only way to save it is to privatise it so he can get a bigger bonus

How can we stop it?

Original Poster

email/write to your mp complaining about the post office declining while allan leighton and adam crozier are getting bigger bonuses and write to peter mandelson saying to stop the privatisation of the post office and organise redeliveries online so you have a record and preferably on a saturday complain if they dont deliver

Is there a petition at No10?

They did testing near me and some people has deliveries Mon/Wed/Fri and some Tue/Thu/Sat depending on where you lived. It seemed to not get that many complaints when they did it. So I think this is the way its going I'm afraid. We do get a better postal service (coverage) than anywhere else in the world.

good luck mate - I just take it as it comes.

for e.g: we used to have 2 deliveries a day in Windsor - then they decided to cut down on the work load so now we just get the one delivery a day - and it's usually around lunchtime which is of no use if your urgently waiting for a letter to arrive.

'tis a shame and I feel sorry for those affected. just Depends on Where you Live i Guess.

theres pettitions at some offices
this is just the beginning what happens when they cut your deliveries down to twice a week then say because you have a high volume of mail you have to collect it all there already sending some casual workers out on deliveries with red cards sorry you were out and if you answer the door saying sorry i dont have the package in some areas

its going to start nationwide so it wont matter where you live i myself as a postman once had to wait 3 weeks for a special delivery item because they wouldnt redeliver on a saturday

Maybe it's time to look for a new career.

I think the writing might be on the wall for RM.

I worked from British Rail before and after privatisation, it wasn't the same afterwards.

Good Luck

the thing is when there paying billions to banks that are still wasting millions on business lunches and sending billions abroad they should start looking inward to the countries problems

MPs never listen and when it all goes balls up they blame everyone else but them selves

As they lost ]£200 million last year, they obviously can't continue that way. What do you suggest they do to make a profit rather than a loss instead of cutting jobs and reducing deliveries bearing in mind they can't increase prices?
