Have you checked the website for the bank you have your current account with? I just opened an online savings account with my bank through my internet banking and then you also have the option of passing money between your current and your savings account

Yep, I opened one online with mine recently but I wasnt too fussed about the rate jsut wanted the flexibility to move money from one account to the other straight away which it does. So any money moved is avaliable in the other account instantly also only one logiong/contact details etc..

hm..

just had a peruse through some details for an e-savings account.

Once the account has been created, then they need me to send ID in the post to them?! which they will then return....

that sounds dodgy to me...

This is standard procedure and the law.

yeah... i understand they need to check you are who... you are.
but.. i dont fancy sending my passport away....

this is where my application for an internet account falls down.. i bet i cant show them my ID in a branch..

i don't see why you can't use your ID in your local branch - i set my online saver up with LloydsTsb at my local, they actually set it all up for me, very helpful. Only problem is Lloyds interest s quite low compared to others
