Rules are: "Your name and date must in the picture"
It must be written on a piece of paper and put beside the pumpkin, sorry I should have made it clearer.
Maybe by taking a photo of the pumpkin in daylight with the name and date to the side, then a picture with it in the dark and the candle inside

Huh ?? :?:?

I'm gutted as I won't be able to enter. But I will send you my entry, without being in the competition.

Is there just one prize or lots? Who decides the winner?

There are some pumpkin masters here on HUKD. I look forward to seeing the results

In all my 27 years I have never carved a pumpkin, maybe I should give it a shot...

There will be far too many people just adding their name and date as above and its not even their own pumpkins not that i'm saying these aren't

Please re edit your pictures and add your name and date on bits of paper and put it beside the pumpkin...you have plenty of time

thank you

Is there a guide or something?

There should be a separate kids only comp but knowing what people on here was like with the zavvi comp i doubt i would be fair if there are prizes to be won. And can the judges be bought with rep from online friends ??? :-D

I'm sure I heard the other day that if you stand them in water after carving they last a lot longer. It was on TV so it must be true :?

So, let's see if this works.

In the great HDUK tradition, I hereby state;
"This is my first pumkin, so please be gentle!" :-D

Does anyone know how long this will last for now? Did I peak to soon?
I hope I'm not going to end up with a rotten pumkin come Halloween!

Well done folks on the pumpkins, looking really good already

Can I ask if anyone knows any Hi-street shops that sell the carving kits? or do you think I should just
go for it all bells and whistles ? lol

The pumpkin will look its best for the first 48 hours then it will start to dry out and shrivel, eventually will go mouldy. The best way to look after the pumpkin is rub vasaline over the cut edges, wrap in cling film and keep it in the fridge when not displaying it, it will last a good week before your fridge no longer smells nice!! You can also plunge it into water for a couple of hours and let it drain well, the pumpkin soaks up the water and loooks fresh again, you can only do this a couple of times before it goes really smelly and mouldy. So in answer to your question I think normally about 2 weeks if you look after it.

Tesco sell carving kits for a couple of quid, got one for the kids this year. We usually use spoons, needles and knives
