Say It Now - Poem

Found 29th Oct 2008
Heard this poem by unknown author just recently and googled to find it, very thought provoking

One Little Rose

I would rather have one little rose
From the garden of a friend
Than to have the choicest flowers
When my stay on earth must end.

I would rather have one pleasant word
In kindness said to me
Than flattery when my heart is still
And life has ceased to be.

I would rather have a loving smile
From friends I know are true
Than tears shed round my casket
When this world I've bid adieu.

Bring me all your flowers today
Whether pink, or white, or red
I'd rather have one blossom now
Than a basketful when I'm dead.

Very true. I always think it's sad to hear how nice things are only said about people AFTER they die. Wonder what they'll say about me when I'm gone? Probably not a lot as I'm boring as hell
So very true. People wait until someone has died and then say how great they were but never say it to their face while they are alive and can appreciate it.
Yes this is right, I'm going to a funeral today so I'll report back later!

I never really know what to say on such occasions, but I'll relay what I've always remembered in a card sent to our family when my Aunty died at the age of 33.

Tenderly, may time heal your sorrow; gently may your friends ease your pain. Softly may peace replace your heartache and may warmest memories remain.
