    Scam alert - 070 numbers

I just received a 'missing call' from some number which looked as a mobile phone number. The phone rang once and than stopped.
As I was awaiting call from my local carpet fitter, I rang back and then I was greeted by robotic lady:
"Thank you for calling Discreet Numbers, this number is currently not in service".

I was interested to find out who those 'discreet numbers' are and it turned out that this is premium phoneline. I haven't seen any charge on my mobile bill (yet) but people on MSE were charged a quid or so per minute.

    Here is the number: 07040827668
According to ICSTIS, this number is owned by Global 1 Limited:

    Company name: Global 1 Limited
    Contact: Mr Peter Green
    Phone number: 0845 022 9999
    Email address: peter@global1plc.com

Are 0704 numbers not taken out of inclusive minutes then?

no idea, but i shall try and find out.

This is 'personal' number, so not sure whether it'll be part of inclusive minutes.

UPD: Just received update from TMobile:

    07040827668 International & Premium Calls 00:00:13 £0.657

So it is NOT included in TMobile tariffs. Not sure about the rest.

i never give my number out on the net when filling in forms! bad thing to do.:w00t:

I have had quite a few of these. Fortunately I never ring back numbers I don't know. They continued on/off for a couple of weeks and then stopped.

I rarely do it only if i feel its a trustworthy site

they cant charge if you answer though right?

No they can't but you are not given an opportunity to answer as they simply stopping the call immediately after first ring.

I got one of these on Wednesday. I was at work so too busy to even think about ringing back. It did look dodgy though. Glad i didnt now!!

Is this the same scam when someone calls you from a premium rate number and when you pick up, it starts ringing a premium phone line? because that has happened to me a few times, luckily as soon as i hear it ringing i quickly hang up.
