Do you have to have something so small?
I bet that overheats alot and will give you trouble this summer.
Do you have a roof aerial good for DVB-T?

I have limited space, and thought i would be nice to have it hidden, but not necessarily.

I do not have a roof aerial, but reception for freeview is usually ok in my area fortunately, do you have a model you;d recommend?

A brand mostly from what I have used, Sagem and Philips given me nightmares.

    Pioneer totally rock solid though.

Pioneer? In terms of reception, it is the most solid? SO you'd recommend staying away from the Sagem and Philips?

A couple of years ago I was going to get a Pioneer myself until I talked myself into getting a Humax PVR instead. I wanted the Pioneer because I heard it had a fast and intuitive interface, something that unfortunately isn't true of all Freeview boxes.
If you can then get one where you can rearrange the channels in a sensible and logical order

    lol thanks for the info.

MBeeching, switching channels in a logical order, has that got a fancy name in the spec list I should look out for?

I've got the Bush DTFA. I wouldn't have it as my main freeview box, as it can be a bit glitchy at times (very occasional freezes or dropped reception), but I've got it plugged into a portable in the bedroom and it does the job admirably. Saves space and makes things look much neater.

The DTFA1001 is an updated version of the DTFA1000 which got mixed reviews. You're unlucky - Argos had this in the sale for £36.99 a few weeks ago.

    I say go for it.

Channel sorting looks on the money to me I can't stand stupid channel arrangements.

That's a very good set, if you can get it for a good price, grab it.

The VTX-D800U is a nice unit but has been discontinued after an (over air) update screwed the unit up. You will struggle to get a new one and be very wary of secondhand units as they might have received the dodgy firmware update.
