Schools to make up for lost days

Banned
Yes folks, just heard that the government are making plans to open schools on Saturdays during better weather so pupils don't miss out on education, should give teachers and kids alike a chance to catch up. Enjoy your days off now but there will be PAY BACK !!

Wont happen. What's the chances in pupils agreeing, and also parents, if parents don't work weekends, they are going to want to spend the weekend with the kids, not send them to school.

SuperEd

never happen

absolutely NO chance that will happen

I went to school on Saturdays every single week, they don't know how lucky they've got it that they're only Monday-Friday!!!!

if it happens we will rebel with a new group not going o school on staturdays for justice

I say do it less chance of VB!, BG1 and the JFK posting :whistling:

not blimmin likely.

THAT has to be a joke?!!? They PAY them to go to school? So I got to school at 7:50am and got home twelve hours later 6 days a week and had to pay for the privilege... Yet they GET paid for it!!!!!! People need to want to learn!!!

Didn't say I was perfect... I said it's ridiculous that they now have to PAY people to get an education.

wow you learn SLOW

Op can u link us to this info

Can't imagine it would be easy, LEA employment contracts would, I presume, not allow for this - it would be up to the teachers and other support staff to agree to it. I can't imagine all the dinner ladies, crossing guards, caretakers, admin staff etc.etc. being available by their contract either.

WHERES THE PROOF?

Link would be nice !

As you're soooo very interested, yes I went to a boarding school, but did not board as I lived half an hour away. As you like to know everything, I'll tell you it all:
School started at 7:50am and finished at 5.30pm
The school uniform for girls up until the change in 2004 was brown shoes, brown tights, a brown pleated skirt, brown shirt, brown tie, brown jumper and brown blazer... Because brown is oh so flattering. Then in 2004 it was changed to blue.
Lessons finished at 4pm where we had "tea" which consisted of drinks and biscuits/fruit/cake and then at 4.20pm "prep" started until 5.20pm where you would do an after school activity or your homework (prep).
On Mondays in "prep" I played in the Symphony orchestra, Tuesday was tennis, Wednesday was chamber orchestra and Friday was hockey. Matches were normally held on Wednesdays and Saturdays.

Anything else you'd like to know, please feel free to let me know.

And it all led to a career posting in HUKD Misc...............WOW!!

NO CHILD LEFT BEHIND!! No Christian Child left behind!!! :giggle:

What's the point? The education system is second rate in this country, they're not gonna learn anything extra on those days. I also find it hilarious that the government is positioning itself as supporting education from a government that wanted to cut University Student Loans, effectively cutting access to higher education. Go figure.

There appears to be an agenda forming in your posts!

School on Saturdays could happen as it's happened in America. When i was in school and schools closed because of weather we went on Saturdays. So i wouldn't rule it out and i personally wouldn't mind if the kids did have to go on Saturdays because they do need their education

I have to say I agree, my daughter chooses her options this year, so ok, not the be all and end of of her whole education, but pretty important, she hasnt been back this week yet and unless the snow ploughs can sort the school for tomorrow and also the buses run again, she will miss a whole week. Would be good if some time could be made back on a weekend, I appreciate our time with the kids is valuable, but their education lasts such a small portion of their lives it would surely benefit them to catch up???
