Screenwasher Additives - What do you use?

I hate my wipers juddering and making noises, I use Sonax screenwash which is about £8 a bottle. Lasts about 3 months.

I am thinking of putting some wash and wax in there from now on, does anyone else use anything special? Not just the usual Halfords stuff.

buy new wiper blades for less than a tenner

wash & wax !!! oO I wouldn't advise that, you wont be able to see sod all through the window when it smears !

we have excellent wipers and just use plain water, never had a problem

To stop the juddering, cut a potato in half & rub the cut portion along the wiper blade/s (serious!)

By wash and wax I mean a professional cleaning product, think about it. When your car is washed, the wipers smear the water so thin it goes off the screen straight away.

A lot of people I know use washing up liquid which is stupid, where as wash and wax is a better type of washing liquid, I think it will work.

With regs to the wipers, my car will only take the proper wipers which are £40 and they have been changed, they still judder.

    Then,
slice potatoes and place on exhaust manifold until crisp,
    add seasoning if required.

Thanks for you input, I have used RainX in the past and find it ruins the screen unless you put it on every month or so. It dries the screen out so much and juddering is a big pain in the ass!

    Use whatever screenwash you like.

Just make sure that you clean the wiper blades every week until they don't mark a cloth black.

    Yes.

If your wipers are squeaking and juddering then it is a problem with the wipers.

A waxed windscreen will help the run off of water, but as soon as you use the wipers it will just smear. It even says on the bottles, Keep away from windscreen

By wash and wax I mean car shampoo, a Meguiars mix to be honest.

I would like to say though who on earth do you think you are to insult people on here? It's always the same old crew who keep this site down in the dumps. What is it about you?? Massive potential is being turned into a waste of time just because of a small few.

maybe a car forum would be a better place to ask

Doubt u will get anything helpful here

I would just ignore their comments tbh. Any regular user can see that this member only ever posts negativity to get reactions. Will try the tatty on the wiper blades myself

Any form of wax on a windsreen will reduce visibility, good quality wiper blades are the answer, together with a good quality screen wash additive.

I heard urine works well as screen wash?oO

Basically any old screen wash, with ethylene glycol, will clean your windscreen nicely.
Get new wipers if they are juddering - it means that the rubber is perishing and you need to replace.

    That's just taking the ****.

OP my wipers used to drive me mad, the slightest hint of a dry screen and they'd judder and squeak and were generally very poor even from new. I have since invested a mighty £7 in those new aero type wipers to replace the old style wipers that used to be fitted to every car. Now the screen can be completely dry and they never squeak or judder. Got them off ebay, I think most cars can be switched over to the aero type now.

I got those for my car, made no difference at all and they still judder. Does my head in.

Your wiper arms may have lost their spring tension.

    Original Poster

Yer I have tried those, not on this car as it has them standard anyway, but they did not make much difference. If anything they made it worse!!

I will say, the PIAA wipers, super silicone I believe are the best but they dont do the aero ones.
