Should you have more access to prizes the longer you've been here? If you walk into a bookie for the first time, you have the same chance as everybody else, so why not here?
Should you moan about the amount of Christmas tat being posted? It's Christmas. Get over it.
Should mods remove references to flamedeer from titles? Nobody thinks it'll give them a better chance. It's humour. I'm sure you've heard of it.
Should members voting cold on the basis of content (eg Christmas tat) as opposed to value be suspended? Yes. They're pathetic.

Should people be rewarded for being long term active contributors to a site, making it what it is? Of course they should.

like you say - "Christmas. Get over it. "

Flamedeers bring out the noobs posting a billion spam deals to help boost there chances.

Limit it to 3 months min membership and make it so the extra deer sections don't appear for you if you have only just suddenly become eligible during the event

So if I'm older than you and have worked longer than you, I should be paid more than you? You're logic is twisted to suit your situation. Given the long odds on winning anything, having two "classes" of member seems stupid, especially when the classes are determined by unscreened contributions.

It's not about age when it comes to work though, it's about experience, and I would expect someone doing the same job as me but having been doing it longer than me, making them more experienced than me to get paid more, yes.

This is a completely different kettle of fish. Anyone posting here is doing so because they want to, not because they have to.

Not just the noobs. Your 3 month idea is more sensible than the current situation that smacks of cliquishness. Sadly common in just about every forum I've ever seen.

Being able to enter the competition is a privilege, not a right. If the owners of HUKD want to make several prizes available based upon contribution criteria, or even the whole competition, then it is entirely their right. If you don't like it, don't participate.

Illogical.

As the competitions main purpose is to bring new users to the site and to encourage people to create an account, rather than using the site as a guest, limiting it to people who have been a member for over 3 months wouldn't be much use.

I think it's lovely that they have added a few prizes that are only for contributing members.

It's in reply to your very poor analogy regarding work. People have to work, people don't have to post on this site.

It does where I work. I wouldn't expect to start any job and be paid the same amount as someone who's been there even only a year longer. If discovered, it would cause friction, and would be grossly unfair.

Because people are volunteering their own time to help others, and generally get nothing back apart from a little badge on their profile. If the site want to reward these people, that's up to them - but I don't have a problem with it, and I really can't see why you do. If it wasn't for people finding and posting these deals, they wouldn't have these competitions in the first place.

Perhaps we should try a dual system: have Cossack Flamedeer for the Commies who think everyone should have an equal chance of catching one and suited up Flamedeer for the Capitalists who believe long term members should be rewarded more. When you catch a flamedeer you get to choose which political side you want, thus simultaneously giving a referendum on the future of flamedeer...

Or maybe you should all just stop complaining and have a Merry Christmas

Yes. Because any community requires continuing membership so people with the pioneer badge so their continued support of this community. Also some of them keep whippersnappers like you in check.

I agree there should be no restrictions in any HUKD competitions.

It's not about length of time, in case you hadn't noticed. Well, aside from the Pioneer prize. It's about how much you have contributed.

I've been hear over 3 years, but I am not eligible for the PS4 flamedeer, because although I have posted hot deals, I have not had a deal reach 1000 degrees yet. Getting a deal to 1000 degrees takes some serious doing, they have probably made hottest deal of the day at least once. I respect the effort those people have put in. I also suspect they the odds of winning those prizes are much better for those people, which reflects their effort.

So in answer to your question, yes I do think it's fair. Get over yourself. When you have put that much effort in your will also be eligible, regardless of your time spent here. Go and post some deals.

I thought I read in another thread last night the level 1 badges don't count? It's a bit confusing, because they only show the two icons and the level one is missing from both the hotspot and contributor prizes. Would be happy to be proven wrong

I think the eligibility requirements are all quite reasonable.

The pioneer one is a bit questionable, mainly because I don't qualify (_;)

Hehehe maybe the pioneer badge should have different levels? We can't all of been here from the very start, but maybe you should get a different coloured one for your 5th and 10th anniversary or something?

It's not a bookies. Why should it be like a bookies?

Of course people should be rewarded for keeping a community going.

ofc its like a bookies - i always walk in and say 'a ton on number 8 in the 3:30 at cheltenham' and never have to pay
