Second Year Car Insurance - 21 Years Old

Found 27th Mar 2010
Hello,

I've held my license for a year and took out my insurance on a Vauxhall Corsa 1.2 SXI, fully comp, no additional drivers with Endsleigh for £1350.

Renweal is due in April and got the renewal quote from Endsleigh which is £200 more! The price is £1550, I've had no accidents, no claims and no points on my license.

Anyone have any advice on how to get a cheaper insurance quote as I'm 21, held a license for a year but keep getting quoted around the same price as my first year, don't have any other drivers in the house.

Recommendations to cheap insurers or any information would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance :-)

Thanks for the list,

Got pass plus, from my knowledge, ain't it only valid for the first year?

Tried plenty of times on Confused, tried Go Compare and it came up with:
Insurer: Flux Direct
Annual Premium £962.68
Proposer Excess £550 (Vol: £250, Comp: £300)
Legal Assistance : Yes
Courtesy Car : Yes
Windscreen Cover: Yes
Personal Accident : X
Breakdown Cover : X
Protected NCB : X

Never heard of them before this

All you have to do in return is not drive your car between 11pm and 5am

Is that relating to Flux Direct too?
Add an experienced driver ( parent) as a named driver, should help a bit.

Flux Direct quote was just with my name, I'll have a go at adding my sister, done it on Confused and it dropped from £1350 from my first year to £1150.
Don't bother with he courtesy car and maybe get rid of legal assistance to bring your quote down.
Try Aviva and add one of your parents as a named driver.

I got fully comp insurance on a 1.4l 5door 2001 ford focus for £1500 with my dad on the insurance and i'm 20 (passed test a few months ago)
add an experienced female driver or 2 to the additional drivers list.

You do know .....that in an accident if they find that any of the other named drivers have not been regularly driving the car then they won't pay out...........they WILL use any excuse !

I was thinking of adding my sister to the policy as a 2nd driver but she lives 140 miles away from me, I do go there every 3 months and would let her drive the car but would it be a problem if I was unfortunately involved in an accident?
You got 10% no claims discount but the price of insurance has increased about 25% on average. Plus you are no longer a new customer so lose any of those discounts. Unlucky.
My son (20) Licence is 2 years old and in his first year of driving a car his monthly payments on his citeron saxo is £68 per month with belive it or not TESCO all other insurers were more (did it through confused .com) he now wants an astra, i told him it would be too expensive but did him a quote on a friends astra and it is £47 per month (with one years no claims) with swinton. It also depends on the car as we have found out. I would say shop around even for drivers like me with 9+ years no claims some companys are really expensive, just got a different insurer for my car as it was £20 cheaper a month than my current renewal .
Admiral multi car with your rents on insurance knocked my renewel down from £2200 to £800 so worth having a look into

Drive a 2003 1.4 Clio - licence held since july 08 AND am 20
