    Selling a contract phone

I'm wondering if someone could clarify a matter for me.

I'd like to sell my contract phone which is only a month old. It comes with 12 months warranty so obviously I'd like to advertise that it still has 11 months warranty left.

But if something was to go wrong within the 12 months, would the buyer be able to deal with it themselves, or would I have to deal with it as the contract (and that phone) was in my name?

I'm reluctant to give the receipt when I sell it as it's the receipt for the whole contract with my details on, which I might need at a later date.

So if something goes wrong could they contact the manufacturer or the phone company or would I have to do it?

If I would have to deal with any faults i'll probably not advertise any warranty as it would make things a bit confusing, and be a lot of hassle, if I have to deal with any issues months down the line.

    Any advice appreciated!

Whats the make / model as it might have 24 months warranty

    erm..............
Photocopy the receipt and give them that copy and the customer who buys it can go to a service center for a repair

You need to read the warranty t&c's.

The phone has 12 months warranty but there may well be something buried in the small print saying the warranty isn't transferrable.

    Thanks for your replies.

It's a Samsung X830 white. Phones4u says the phones come with 12 months warranty, with repairs being dealt with by their service centres.

It doesn't say the warranty is not transferrable, however, I would assume that a receipt would have to be shown and it would have to be done by the contract holder. Is this the case?

    Ok
When you sell the phone and give a copy of the receipt to the customer.................................and then IF something goes wrong with the phone the customer should go to the SAMSUNG service center and NOT phones 4u Samsung Service center dont care about the original owner they would just want proof its under warranty and they would repair it for you
