Selling laptop....deleting info from the hard drive question.

As above, selling my faulty laptop. It will probably go for more with the hard drive included.

Question is how safe is it to include it in the sale if I have deleted everything off it and formatted it?

Any other options to get it completely clean gratefully received or is it impossible to get them 100% empty and safe.

Or shall I just sell it without the HD?

How big is the hard drive? This is very good. downloads.sourceforge.net/dba…oad You make a boot cd and it completely wipes the hard disk. It takes about 2 and half hours for 3 wipes per 50gb.
This is supposed to be enough to stop recovery without forensic software.
At the end of the day though, if you have something really sensitive that you really don't want to take a chance with, the only way to feel safe is not to sell the hard drive with it. Either sell it without or replace it.

    It's 120gb, nothing sensitive on there I don't think!

I need a HD for my Wii, does anyone know if I could use the laptop one (in a caddy) or do you need to buy a certain type/ brand?
