    service history ????

just found out my friends car does not have a genuine honda service history, where does he stand???

Why does he need it? What are the circumstances ?

Where did he purchase the vehicle and what were the terms i.e. d was it sold with a warranty and did the advertiser show it as having a genuine honda servise history or just service history .What was the value of the purchase because he may have to take this to small claims court if he wishes to recover something out of any claim.

    where does he stand??? :?

Just to the left near that tree ;-)

Has the history book been forged ??

was the car bought from an official honda dealership and what model honda is it?

    Was it advertised with it?

unfortunatley he didnt thought it was a genuine delership stamp

    If the history is forged..

The best return you will get is from the scrappage scheme.. else
some of the car scrappers who use it for spare parts would offer some money..

Also if you / your friend sells it without informing the next buyer of the facts you could be in serious trouble..

If your friend can be bothered suggest he have a word with citizens advice and he can probably get a free consultation with a solicitor to discuss the matter ,however,as stated before there may be a chance of getting some result if he takes it to small claims court but it will cost him to lodge the papers approx 35 squid and he should write a letter to the dealer explaining the situ and giving the dealer a chance to respond. Also if he takes to court he should back up his claim with a copy of the advert and any misleading material the dealer gave him.Unfortunately there is no gaurantee of a result but the judge in small claims will listen to a well presented submissiion. The other hurdle is even if he gets some compensation he will still have to force the trader to pay as in my experience you can win a case but even then its hard to get your money from cowboys.
Im not sure if you can use the scappage scheme because i think you have to have owned the vehicle for a certain period of time .Good luck

What are you going on about?

A car doesn't have to have a service history to enable someone to sell it, it can be sold without one, it just will not be worth as much.

Upto your mate to have checked. He has no recourse, unless trader is willing to do something, assuming you can get hold of him. Where was it advertised?

First question is why would you buy a car knowingly from a cowboy trader?

Second question is was the car advertised in a newspaper or on the internet? If it was get copies of the advert as this will help his/her case.

Check the ad to see if it says Full Honda Service History or Full Service History. If it says Full Honda Service History then the dealer may have made a simple error. However, you still have some recourse to obtain a discount or similar. Go back to the trader with proof of the ad and question why it was sold/advertised with Full Honda Service History when it doesnt have it. If no joy then as other posters suggest visit the local CAB for further advice.

thanks peeps for the advice have made my mate aware and he thanks every1 for there contrubution towards this thread.

he is in process talking with trader and see if he can get some sort of discount.

the car was on auto trader however there are no photos of it auto trader showing the log book, despite it states full honda servic history.

point b the vechicle photo that was on advertised dont show the registration of the car so in court it may be difficult to prove.as trader could deny.
