I just bought a NAS drive from a fellow HUKDer & I've spent all day trying to set it up without success. Its connected via LAN to my BT voyager. I know it works because when I set my network TCP/IP address to that of the drive it works but then I lose internet. When I reset to 'obtain IP address automatically' I get the internet back but lose the NAS drive.
Bearing in mind that I'm terminally thick when it comes to computers, can anyone help?

I would set a fixed address on the NAS drive, and then make sure it is either out of your DHCP range or reserved and keep your PC on automatic. Then you just map a drive to the address you know is assigned to the drive

sounds like the NAS might be set on a fixed IP that's on a different subnet to the rest of your network.

Agree - I would get back to the seller and ask him/her to confirm what IP settings were applied to the NAS before they shipped it to you.

What hardware manufacturer and model is it (you may need to download a guide and/or software to fully reset it)?

Cheers, Scotty Boy!

Thanks chaps.
I think I have sorted it by setting up under the 'alternate configuration tab' using the NAS's IP settings. This has worked so far but I havent tried accessing it from the other PCs & PS3 yet...
Anyway time for a drink now & I'll sort the rest out tommorow.
Reps all round.
