Shall I change my home phone from BT? Post Office any good?

Found 28th May 2010
Hi all.
just got a letter from BT saying that my contract is about to finish and they will automatically renew my conract if I dont tell them otherwise - just wondering if it's worth changing as the Post Office service looks quite good, they have extra thingies and they are cheaper

Can anyone with the Post Office service please tell me:
do they take over my phone line - will they have to come out to my house and will I be rid of BT?
can i port my old phone number?
will i still be able to have O2 broadband?
do they charge extra for not paying by direct debit?

Thank yous x

my mother has changed to poffice phone and broadband she thinks they are great and she likes free calls to mobiles on weekend

just a suggestion if you have your broadband with o2 why not change your phone to them as well? should mean a lower overall cost?

Post office don't charge you any extra however you pay, only a month to month contract. Free evening and weekend calls. Free calls to mobiles at weekend. Caller ID is chargeable extra as it is with o2. Phone BT if you wish to stay get them to price match o2's offering(s)

and yes you can still have broadband from o2

I moved to the post office and I reckon to save £35/40 per quarter or £105 / 120 a year. Thats with both the Telephone and Broadband standard.

They are increasingtheir charges as below:
As of 1st August 2010 the following prices will apply: Daytime call rate to UK landlines will increase from 4.6p per minute to 5.25p per minute; Call connection charge will increase from 8.23p per call to 9.4p per call; Call durations to 0845 and 0870 numbers will be rounded up to the nearest minute. No other prices are changing, the cost of a customers monthly line rental and broadband fee remains the same and is still one of the most competitive available. Thanks
Will look into them, I am sure I've heard some not so good things with them though

Been with P.O for over 2 years and saved a bundle. No Problems
