    shocked and appaulled!

i had 2 charity bags posted through my door last week one for RNLI and the other a childrens charity. both needing to be filled and put on the step this morning. As i already had 2 bags of clothes in bin bags to go to the charity shop i just cellotaped the RNLI packet onto one bin bag and the childrens packet onto the other bin bag and left them on the door step before i took little one to school. just got home and the RNLI collection has been and ripped the childrens charity packet off the bin bag (and left it on the floor!) and took BOTH bags!!!!!! surely they cannot do that. also not impressed that he didnt even have the decency to leave the other packet on my doorstep, it was on the floor in the street!

    sounds like it

a lot of people get rid of designer clothes now hoping charities will profit from them.

people will scam just about anyone for anything these days

Thats why I never do any dealings at my front door

And you were witness to all this was you. Not saying it doesn't go on because it does.

It looks to me like the RNLI may have been and done what Michelle stated. Why would a scammer be bothered in taking off the childrens charity bag, a bit of unnecessary work don't you think.

It's a well known fact that a lot of the leaflets asking for clothes, bags and bric a brac aren't real charities unfortunatley. Barnardos are good for collecting any stuff you want to donate.

Contact the RNLI, this person is giving the charity a bad name.

Agreed. We get around six of these 'charity' bags a week. Only one is official. The rest have 'company numbers' instead of actual registered charity numbers. I've been told they are allowed to do this as a means of collecting and re-selling.

The worst thing is that the actual charity (save the children) collects at 9:30 on a Wednesday. But, there are two other fake charities that collect at 8:30 and 9:00 on the Wednesday also

I used to live above a charity shop. I saw many people raking the bags that were left, but the worst thing was seeing the manager's husband collecting her from work, and watched as they 'took home' all the good stuff.

I personally handed in some jackets which her husband now wears

I meant were you were witness to Michelle's incident this morning.

Like i said, we know it goes on but this mornings incident looks a bit suspicious to me and not the work of car booters.

So are you saying the other charity did the dirty ? :?

That's what it looks like according to the OP's post. Why would they take off the childrens charity bag but not take off the RNLI. Looks like the RNLI took both bags but discarded the other charity bag.

is save the children charity ok as they are coming to us tomorrow and was going to put a bag out for them

I phoned them and asked if they were looking for clothes in my area and when do they collect. They confirmed it was them who left the bag, and agreed they would collect at the same time as stated. the registered charity number also tied in to the official register.

Its not the charity bags............... its who took them, it could be anyone!!!........ I used to leave my charity bag outside, not anymore. I take it into the store myself. Its like leaving a laptop outside for charity............. Everyone wants to steal it..........:whistling:

it could have been anyone, even the nieghbour 4 doors down, never leave anything out, whether for charity or not

this is why everything should be done on an ID basis...just learn a lesson, keep the bags inside and leave a note on your door, charity collection please ring the bell...anyway that's why i hate charity shops, most people working there go through the stuff and keep it themselves...also does anyone else than me think that charity workers salaries are a bit too much for what they do? i know a few people, travel the world for free, sleep eat drink for free and at the end of the year have 25k plus in your pocket tax free...
