Should a member of the BNP be allowed to teach? Would you be happy allowing him/her to do so if you know he/she was BNP?

Heard this on Five Live this morning. It's an interesting subject and would like to know your views. So should a member of the BNP be allowed to teach?

    Yes.

They shouldn't bring their personal life to work with them though.

Of course. It's no different than say an extremely religious person being allowed to teach. As long as they didn't teach that "their way is the right way" then there's no problem.

depends on what they're teaching........ if they're sticking to whats on the curriculum then no problemo

Could you honestly say that a member of the BNP who teaches would not give preferential treatment to caucasian children?

    If they do, sack them.

However, there is no reason why a BNP member cant teach Chemistry etc IMHO

Do you think there are teachers from ethnic backgrounds who discriminate against caucasian children?

Not hypothetical...theres been a MPs were discussing whether to ban BNP teachers from teaching, so if laws are passed (either way) and are being discussed, it is a genuine concern and a cause for public disscussion.

Youve asked a question in the OP whether the people here think they should or shouldnt be allowed to teach.

Then youve strayed off topic asking hypothetical questions in response to peoples answers

    i.e anjem choudary

There is a reason that BNP members are banned from being Policemen for instance.... oh wait..... Policemen aren't allowed to be members of any political party.

And yes, I was being sarcastic about having a gay teacher. I'm sure there would be many people with phobias, that would object to their child being taught by one. Equally as ludicrous.

Now if your example had said "paedo".... then we all know the answer.

Wanna restart the thread and work BNP into it?

Intresting point. If say a Paedo was allowed to work in school (Which they can't, thank god, for obvious reasons) would you say OK, yes he can teach as long as he leaves his views at home and teaches the curriculum correctly and follows the rules?

Fair enough, what if your daughter had a lesbian pe teacher?

As a son of two immigrants, born and bred in London, I would say yes, the more you try to bury it the more insipid it becomes, I say shine a light into ever crevice and corner and let society show them what a party that wanted to deport me and my family based on colour thinks of it. A party that was, before 2009, only allowing people with a maximum melanin level in their skin with a max. threshold for skin pigmentation.

By banning teachers or anyone who's salary is from Government from certain parties is censorship and dictatorial control that I do not agree with, if they have nothing to hide let them join.

I expect at least 2 or 3 BNP MPs in just over 2months to be sitting in the House of Commons, that will be interesting

True. But racism is illegal and it is arguable that the BNP is a racist organisation.

Quoted from Wiki "At its founding, the BNP was explicitly racist. In October 1990, the BNP was described by the European Parliament's committee on racism and xenophobia as an "openly Nazi party ... whose leadership have serious criminal convictions [sic]".[130] When asked in 1993 if the BNP was racist, its deputy leader Richard Edmonds said, "We are 100 per cent racist, yes".[130] Founder John Tyndall proclaimed that "Mein Kampf is my bible".[131] When Nick Griffin became chairman in 1999, the party began to change its stance with regard to racial issues. Griffin claims to have repudiated racism, instead espousing what he calls "ethno-nationalism". He claims that his core ideology is "concern for the well-being of the English, Scottish, Welsh and Irish ethnic nations that compose the United Kingdom"."

I was thinking along those lines as well plus i know people that study medicine at my uni and its majority of Asians British born or otherwise and people from mixed nationalities plus people that go to uni integrate with people from other cultures and stuff cos its mostly team work and they see people for themselves and not their skin colour

Ask yourself this, those working in the Health Service, those who went to University, how many of those people vote for the BNP?

Whereas those born into an unemployed family culture, used to seeing noone with a real worth ethic, used to see peers have kids for the benefits, those who have not experienced other cultures other people of colour for the most part, how many of those vote for the BNP?

The Daily Wail brigade are very good at pointing out foreign Muslims on benefits, regularly, as if to imply they are the majority, in their neo-con fantasy land they maybe, but not in the UK.

In answer to the OP.... Yes just as I'm happy with Muslims, Christians and Jew's teaching. Although I realise that religion is different I believe that a good teacher should leave their personal life/views at home

I think that's how it should be, genuine equality without discrimination...That's were the importance of allowing a BNP teacher occurs because of equality, freedom of speech and the need to be free of discrimination we have to allow BNP members to teach if they choose to...Shame the BNP members do not have that view...

Leaving views at home and being a teenage student and knowing that your teacher is a member of a party like the BNP will effect the respect and crediability either way.
As I said above they should be allowed to teach if a member of the BNP.

Question is, imagine students, of Islamic and Asian origin being taught by a teacher known to support the BNP are you expecting a harmonious school environment there? I wish I knew what I did now and was back in school, put in that way...

The police saga I believe was due to the public inquiry that found the Met Police to have institutionalised racism, I don't agree with it, but I get why they banned BNP members in Met.

Unfortunately, not everyone, teachers included, will have a nice BNP membership badge or be present on a leaked BNP membership list to show their extreme views, BNP is just one perspective with such abhorrent policies/history.

IMO parents just need to keep their eyes open and understand that their childrens teachers and peers will have extreme views, and I expect the teachers will be far more reigned in, considering all the political correctness they have to abide by than the children of parents who have no regard whatsoever to the effect of the words that come out of their mouth has on your childs fellow peers and students at school which is far more dangerous given history of playground bullying, from racism to homophobia (a massive problem in Secondary Schools these days)

I just put it to one thing you see IGNORANCE so sad really!

luckily i dont think i had any BNP teachers at my school, maybe its the area i lived in but i loved all my teachers and i had teachers of different races, even at uni now in a different part of the country (where i hear there are more BNP supporters than anywhere in the country) now i have teachers of different races a couple actually graduated from my uni and now teaching us so no BNP hatred or discrimination here lol a lecturer actually advised us to integrate with ppl from different races and cultures so we learn more as it'll help us in future with the industry we're working in so it shows we can work with all sorts of ppl and he then said except there were some students that had some BNP meeting to go to which me LOL
