It doesn't matter who is in charge. Labour are history in the next election unless the tories make a serious cockup. He was however (IMHO) a good chancellor. Bliar got out just in time.

Whoever is in charge they will still face the same problems, people seem to fail to see that the world economy has gone tit's up and no matter who is in government things ain't going to get better.......... let's all blame Brown:thumbsup:

I think he should be challenged. I think he was a good Chancellor but he doesn't have the right personality for PM.

I suspect his only way of winning the next election is to withdraw all the troops from Iraq a couple of months beforehand.....

There will no doubt be one stunt or another, but I think the nails are already in the coffin.

i doubt there's any serious contenders. after all who'd want to lead labour into their worst ever general election result? there'll be a few stalking horses but i can't see somebody wanting the job yet. but they may kick out brown and replace wih him with one of the "old guard" who's prepared to act as a stop gap.

yup, i didnt vote for him

Agree with all these. But also think there appeared to be quite a high degree of correlation between Blairs difficult days and the Brown camp scoring points before Blair stepped down. I believe in horses for courses and I believe that Blair made a much better PM overall with Brown as chancellor. Brown does not have the right personality for PM in a media driven world. But labour just like the tories allowed themselves to be drawn into personality issues. Economy aside, they have created much of their own misfortune. I think it will be a bit of a poison chalice whoever is PM at present due to present world economy considerations. I also believe that although other parties have much to say to stick in the knife, in reality they would prefer to wait in the background a while longer in the hope that the situation will improve. Nobody really wants the reins at the moment. Gordons pride led him into a trap.

nah leave him in for a few more years so he can really well and truly put the uk into third world proportions then maybe all the immigrants will leave, all the state spongers will have jumped off the local bridges and anarchy can rule for all the criminal out there...now thats a country id like to see....thumbs up for gordon...we love you mate........!!!

no, ok so he might not be as charismatic as blair, but the whole world is experiencing difficult times, I am old enough to remember when the tories were in power, 16% interest rates, wages were terrible, 2 year waiting lists to see a specialist on the nhs, the trouble with everyone that are moaning is that they have bought houses they could only just afford and want to spend spend spend money they don`t have

    YES

i think tony blair knew we were about to go into credit crunch and got out just before it went pear shaped.
and gordon brown was so desperate to be PM he took the job anyway

With all thats wrong in the country at the moment and much could be done to improve things we are still better off than many
